It doesn't stop them completely, it merely gives you a bit of clout when you eventually have to take them to court for cold calling

I signed up to it 12 months ago and some still get through - usually the ones that are recorded messages inviting you to get in touch to win your dream holiday.. £1.50 a minute is a bit steep to find out which company it is

It might be useful to contact BT and ask for anymous call rejection

then type in on your phone *227# (It will cost you a tenner for 3 months though of which I think is very unfair)

This will then reject calls, who with hold their numbers.

 

If its u know who it should be on your line already for free

just type in *227#

 

but you will have to tell your friends who call with private numbers to type in 1470 before they call or otherwise they wont be able to get though !
