July 16, 200521 yr I saw it this afternoon!! I loved it...it was actually really fun to watch. Johnny Depp does such a good job. He's very different from Gene Wilder...and I can't decide which one is better, each are equally great as Willy Wonka. The original totally has better songs though. But then again...I don't think anything could beat the original oompa loompa song...haha.
July 16, 200521 yr ^haha can't beat the original oompa loompa songs... yeah i really liked it, i saw it today! i liked this ending better. hahahaha johnny depp plays willy wonka as if he's slightly insane, i think
July 16, 200521 yr OMG I REALLY WANT TO SEE THIS MOVIE!!! He reminds me of ME!!! The sarcasm that I have seen in the trailers is just like me!! And the hair and teeth he has....HAHA!!! I think I might go see it this weekend...alone...no one else in my fam wants to see it so I will go alone...for the first time!!! I CANT WAIT!!! :D
July 16, 200521 yr I have to disagree with Johnny Depp doing a good job. He ruined a great character! He's the only thing out of place in the film. Tim Burton did a fine job with it, Johnny Depp managed to turn Willy Wonka into a freaky Michael Jackson type. Overall it was better than I was expecting, but Johnny Depp is definitely the weak link in the chain. There's something I never thought I'd find myself saying.
July 16, 200521 yr This movie I give a B. I thought it to be better than the original. Depp's character is thoroughly amusing. He acts as if he was on acid or something. It is great. The whole movie has this psychadelic feel. Burton's best work in years for sure. This is a much darker more sinister yet still wholesome rendition of the movie. Go see this film.
July 16, 200521 yr some kid in the theatre started crying and saying "i wanna go home!"...the little girl a few seats away from me didn't seem too happy either

I would have laughed my ass off!! You know, I dont know what the big to do is.. there were some pretty freaky parts in the 1st one too... like when they all ride that boat that takes them all to some place in the factory.. and Wonka (Gene Wilder) was singing some erie song.. and in the background (the blue screen effect) there are images of snakes and blood.. and a bunch of other 'out there' stuff... that part freaks me out!! lol
July 17, 200521 yr i liked it....but it WAS REALLY weird! lol but once you get passed that, its okay..my fav was the oompa loompas!!! haha
July 17, 200521 yr I just got home from it. And it was quite... special. Yes, especially the Oompa Loompas.

July 18, 200521 yr see.. so I dont know why people are getting all kookoo over this... :P Has anyone tried the Wonka Bars that have come out..... I need one!! :stunned:
July 18, 200521 yr My complaint isn't with the boat ride, or the fates of the children, or anything. It's with Depp's Wonka. He's supposed to be eccentric, he's supposed to be "freaky" or "out there" or whatever, but he's not supposed to make me think of an androgynous pedophile. Also, for all the hoopla about this one being closer to the book than the first movie, I sure as hell don't remember reading anything about Willy Wonka's father in the book. (There's Tim Burton's pet issue for you.) Again, I wouldn't say the new one is "bad." If nothing else it's visually stunning, like everything Tim Burton does. But it didn't make me want to see it again.

July 19, 200521 yr Everything here is eatable. I'm eatable, but that, my children, is called cannibalism, and it is frowned upon in most societies... Personally, I thought Johnny Depp did a wonderful job as Willy Wonka.
