I love all of Johnny Depps movies and Tim Burton's too, but Im a little sceptical. Not SCEPTICAL but Im doubtful, it could go either way...

I have never seen a bad Depp or Burton movie, never. I'll give this a chance.

Johnny's role in this movie is completely unique and awesome in my opinion. But I could see how people could take it both ways and could find it annoying.

I dont know. At first I thought it would be an interesting turn for him to try something new like this (And it is, unlike anything hes done before) hes done upbeat silly characters but only in minor films, this is a BIG movie.

So at first I thought it'd be cool, even after I saw film clips. But then I was thinking about it, and maybe he see's this whole entire movie as another pretty looking line on his acting CV, but I'll give him a chance and see how convincingly he plays it.

I feel the same way.

I don't really like the way this movie looks, but it's Tim Burton, so I'm not too worried. It should be good.

i cant WAIT til this comes out!!! omg i LOVE the book and the original movie!!! ugh gonna be dye-no-might

I'm still kinda ticked off that they made this. I know that Roald Dahl's family says this is a more accurate representation of the book, but I'm not a fan of the book, I'm a fan of the first movie. I LOOOOOOVE the original movie. So I'm not really excited to see anybody but the brilliant Gene Wilder in Willy Wonka's shoes.

i'm going to see this. well, my friend is a huge jonny depp fan so i won't end up having much of a choice. but we'll see this together, then i'm dragging her to see fantastic 4 (sneak in!) the same day. so it works out.

if there's anyone who can... its Depp! He'll put a different spin on Wonka.. yet contain the 'weirdness' that Wilder brought to the table.. The book is awesome!! You should read it!!! NOW!! :P

I cannot wait for this film. Burton will do it justice. There shouldn't be as much cheesy musical crap in this one although the original is just classic :D

well i shall be interested to say the least! its out on my birthday which should be cool!

I will be seeing this movie as well, maybe next week or the week after, depending on when it comes out in on either of the two basingstoke VUE cinemas.

Isn't this a kids' movie??

It's a remake of a kids' movie yes, but adults can go to it too. Family movie for sure. But it's intelligent too. Have you seen the original?

No - because I felt it was a "kids'" movie!! :)

Just can't see myself dragging myself out to the cinema to see something like that, that's all!

You should watch the trailer, it looks really good.

Maybe - after checking out "Rotten Tomatoes" first!! I think you should check out the "Usergroups" thread, by the way!

the original 1971 classic isnt really aimed at kids either. Certain jokes are intended for adult audiences even back then, so I am assuming the new one will continue, I also heard that the new version is truer to the book. Have you read the book? Its a bit dark at times...

Yeah, I doubt a whole lot of kids got many of the dozens and dozens or obscure (and not so obscure) literary references in the first movie.
