People need to lay off Johnny Depp (Well even though very few have been against him, still!).

 

I dont know where Peed got the impression of "androgynous paedophile" (Although it was a comical statement) to me he seems more ignorant to the children, as opposed to wanting to screw them.

 

I think he does a really great job, his comical timing is brilliant, I will never forget the tedious voice he put on, and he was a complex character under a layer of simplicity. When I saw the advertisements I thought he'd be a little too typically eccentric, almost to the point of boredom, but that wasnt the deal at all.

I loved it. I think he did a great job.. and he brought a different life to the character. I can't say I remember all this father/son jargon from the book.. its been years since I read it.. but most of the factory bits.. were true to book, from what I do remember. I didnt get the creepy pedophile vibe at all.. I do think he was creepy though.. bravo!!

I just saw it to today and really enjoyed myself. I'm glad I liked it, since I'm seeing it again later this week with my friend. There aren't many movies lately that makes me want to see them again, but this one was so entertaining, comical and fun to watch that I could go for a second helping.

 

This whole pedophile stuff surrounding it is so frustrating to me. I really went to see Johnny Depp's portrayal of Wonka and found it quite stunning. I was never... much of a fan of the original. Maybe I saw it too young and it scarred me for life, Gene Wilder's Wonka used to scare the crap out of me. He was always yelling.... But Johnny's really fit the role of eccentric, childlike chocoletier without getting boring or tiresome. And I didn't see any gleam of bad intentions towards the children in his eyes... Maybe it's just because MJ's trial is still in the public concience but geeze. It's getting annoying to hear about constantly.

and when I say creepy... I mean creepy in a good way. Wonka was a creepy dude!!! Read the book people!! I am going to read it again after 16 years!! (as soon as I finish with Harry. :cool: )

Oh my god the book is seriously :o worthy. I love Dahl though, he's always been one of my favorite writers, even if his books are a BIT below my level now :lol:!

I loved this movie

It was goood, got off to a slow start but thoroughly enjoyed it in the end :cool:

i really enjoyed Depp's performance, and the film as a whole, i've always loved this book, i read it in french as a girl, re-read it in english a few years ago, i found the film pretty faithful to the book, and the actors were pretty good as well, a real treat!

i thought it was great, mr depp cant do any wrong in my eyes! :D

saw it yesterday. I liked it a whole lot better than the previous film. The other film still scares me these days. Jonny Depp was kind of creepy though, although you couldn't help laughing at him. WOuld definitely go back and see it again

The little boy who plays Charlie is adorable! I couldn't get over his cuteness :nice:

fucking awesome movie...definitely Johnny Depp knows how to be a multiphacetic actor...the Willy Wonka peformance was one of the bests of him...i loved it!

I saw it, and then my grandparents came and I saw it AGAIN yesterday. It was totally brilliant. I loved the parts where Johnny walks into the elevator. :lol: I love the book too. The only thing I don't like is the fact that my sister is in love with Depp and she goes on and ON and ON and ON about him :rolleyes:

Oh I watched this last week and it was AMAZING. Johnny did Willy perfectly, I think. His expressions are perfect, his acting was just superb. I loved it.
