Things you really like about X&Y

Featured Replies

Here the anti-thread.

-Okay I really like A message specially the guitar part after "And I'm nothing on my own, gotta get that message home" like in the minute 03:00.

-I really like in the hardest part that part that starts"I could feel it go down" and in the end the beautiful piano.

-Twisted Logic.

Okay you now just post things you like and keep it simple. ;)

When the riff kicks in after the second chorus in "Sqaure One".

Johnny's guitar after the first chorus of "X & Y".

"Everything I know is wrong....."That whole part is what saved The Hardest Part from becoming my most hated Coldplay song ever.

A Message...the best thing about this record.

-the begining of square one

-when johnny joining with electronic guitar in fix you

-talk:it s just a great song

-swallod on the sea:i can feel passion

-till kindom come:because i love johhny cash

-when Will's drums start to play on Square One!!

-the loud ending of Talk (you know what I mean)

-the end of Twisted Logic where you can hear Chris doing "aaaaaaaaah" in the background

-Chris counting in on Til Kingdom Come :D

-the 4 guys singing on Fix You

-the color code in the booklet

the end from Swallowed in the Sea ... i love it!!!!

Definately the solo in Talk, when they played that at Bolton I went crazy :D

The end of Square One is brilliant also

- The end of Square One

- Whole Talk (awesome song)

- When the chorus kicks in for the first time in White Shadows

- When all the guys sing on Fix You

- The piano in The Hardest Part

- How rocky most of the songs are

I love the whole thing. However, in a perfect world, I could do without Till Kingdom Come and Swallowed In The Sea

The acoustic bit of "Square one"

the "darkness always turns into light" part from "What if"

The end of "White shadows"

ALL OF FIX YOU :)

the end of "Talk"

the chorus of X&Y

the chorus of "Speed of sound"

the "i'm nothing on my own..." bit from A message

the "cause i feel low!!" bit of Low

the "you left the sweetest taste in my mouth..." part from The hardest part

ALL OF SWALLOWED IN THE SEA

ALL OF TWISTED LOGIC

ALL OF TIL' KINGDOM COME :) but especially the chorus

- The explosion in Square One

- The crecendo in A Message

- The atmosphere in Speed of Sound

- The riff in Talk (And the drum part)

- The bass drums in X&Y

- The end of Twisted Logic

- Chris' voice during "What good is it to live/ With nothing left to give/ Forget but not forgive/ Not loving all you see" during Swallowed in the Sea.

- The bass line in White Shadows

- The drum part in Fix You

- Chris' vioce range in Low during "You should try..."

- The key change in Low

- The end of Kingdom Come

- The chorus and ending of What If

And lot's others, but those are the main things.

the setup i must say....how the songs are seperated in the X&Y things and stuff.....just the opinion of a candian

I mostly agree with you...

I also love the "spoons" in LOW...

The piano of Speed of Sound

and the whole emotion I feel every time I listen to X&Y (the album)...

-I like in Fix You the part between the second chorus and the part with "tears stream..." at the end...

-I like alot of the songs- swallowed in the sea, a message, what if, fix you, white shaddows, til kingdom come (basically i love this album :) )

**I'm really glad you started an anti-thread

Finally the anti-thread... What took us so long

- How Jonny cycles through all the Edge-like riffs on Square One. And the accoustic ending.

- The front accoustic/ quiet parts in What If, A Message.

- Fix You- without that church organ

- All of the rockish guitar parts (when they're not accompanied by Guy's campish bass), even when they "ruin" the song e.g. on A Message/What If... Also, I'm learning to appreciate the "camp-ish" baselines :P

- The Kraftwerk riff in Talk

- All the nice production touches (hit-or-miss on this album): spoons on Low, wind-tunnel sound at the beginning of Talk

- The exhilarating piano at the beginning of The Hardest Part

- Total rock tracks White Shadows and Low

- How they "borrowed" off so many people and made the parts their own e.g. Radiohead's There There last two drum snaps in Square One, Karma Police (I think) in X&Y, Twisted Logic (another track off OK Comp) etc.

- The un-ending spiralling melody of Swallowed In The Sea

So the "Things you don't like" prevails again!

Bump.

-the end of white shadows

-twisted logic

-low

almost everything actually, except speed of sound

I like:

Square One

The drumming and the melody in the verses

What If

The strings that make the track sound like the beatles and johnnys guitar parts at the end

Fix You

The organ sonds really good, johnnys simple but effective guitar bit and the four part vocal at the end.

Talk

Johnnys guitar part in the build up to the rock out bit

X&Y

The string doing a reprise bit at the end

Speed of Sound

The drumming using the toms and floor tom (not sure if thats the right names) Guys bass parts really work too and i also like the synths in the track

A Message

Love the open tuning acoustic, lovely sounding chords

Low

the bit near the end where he sings "i feel low"

but to be honest i like it all really :)

I *love* the ending of Twisted Logic. Is it me or can you hear Chris screaming in the background as all the instruments kinda unite and become his grand, amazing sound? Dammit. I really want to hear that song live.

I never realised there was someone screaming in the background of twisted logic  I'll just put it on now and have a listen :)
