I have been a looongtime fan of Ben Folds/Ben Folds Five

 

I think this guy is a musical genius (he played every instrument on his last album Rockin The Suburbs), and he is quite witty and clever in his lyrics as well

 

just wonderin if anyone else agrees with my sentiment/wants to discuss!

i first heard of him with 'landed' and then i rushed to get his records.

'the luckiest' is the song i'd like to be played at my wedding (if i'll ever do, that is ;) )

My favorite song of his (alone) would be either Not the Same (about his friend tripping out on acid, and waking up a born again christian) or There's Always Someone Cooler than You

 

Favorite Ben Fols Five song = Mess, please give this song a listen, its incredible both lyrically and musically, the Five at the top of their game

Mess is phenomenol. One of my alltime faves.

My other faves of the band and solo ben are:The Ascent of Stan, Selfless Cold and Composed, Protection, And Wandering.

yea some of the stuff off of those EPs is really good (wandering, "original" Give Judy My Notice, SOmeone cooler etc etc)

 

I'm really disappointed i dont get to go see him play at wolftrap though in august :(

 

school stuff interferes, but i sure as hell am not missing raleigh coldplay b/c of school

I love Ben´s music... since I discovered, he turns into one of my favorite musicians ever... I have many favorites, somedays is this one, anothers is other one... but he ´s sooo amazing... I haven´t seen him in live, but I have the extra dvd of Ben Folds Live... so, at least is something, jeje. :P

 

You know, I found two of the three Ben Folds Five cds in TWO dollars, NEW, in one store here in Mexico... I had listened one song before, so I took the risk buying the third one... and after I heard it I was like: why in the earth they put this cd´s on that low prices and they sold britney spears stupidities in 200 or 300 pesos!! he,he... I guess there´s not good musical taste here... :(

but I was lucky, because I could buy them in a good price!!! :dozey:

i like rockin' the suburbs album.. but not rockin the suburbs song. which is weird, i know.

 

i really like Army, Battle of Who Could Care Less, Evaporated, One Angry Dwarf And 200 Solemn Faces, There's always someone cooler, Narcolepsy, and Brick (of course). oh and luckiest, fred jones pt 2, and ok im going to stop coz im jsut gonna name more and more songs. but yeah i really liek ben folds [five] lol

Fred Jones Pt. 2 is one of my favorites, definitely. Cigarette as well (ie, Fred Jones Pt. 1), The Ascent of Stan (love the wicked piano), Still Fighting It, Philosophy... oh man I could go on as well.

 

I'm really looking for some good sheet music too, cause listening to him just makes me want to jam. :D

fred jones pt 2 makes me really sad.. but its a good kind of sad.. and i sing really loudly with it.. albeit off key but whatever. its in the privacy of my own room. lol

Ha me too. My favorite part's when Fred gets angry (and all of these BASTARDS have taken his place!) and (presumably) throws his canvas across his basement. lol I get all kinds of images in my head during that song.
