Agh... Chris Martin's vocals were too low, SoS was cut short, the coverage of the band was weak, bitch-moan, plus all the other stuff you guys mentioned.

Sucks I waited 2 hours for that. It's funny how Chris left the stage. Almost seemed as if the pyrotechnics scared him off. Haha... jk. Moreover, I found it offensive to the band that Chris didn't return to the stage as SoS closed. It's like he just left his bandmates and ran away to finish his soaring vocals, all eyes on him (and those bastards behind him) - speaking of which, bad idea for Chris to stand in that same damn spot the entire time offstage, hah - and made the band complete the song on their own.

I know Chris likes to run around and get the audience involved, but I think it's only appropriate either in concert, or if he eventually comes back to his bandmates. I'd be pissed if my band's frontman just left and finished the song elsewhere. Its bad enough knowing everyone isn't looking at you but at the frontman - It's even worse SEEING everyone looking away. Perhaps the pyrotechnics were simply a way to get everyone's attention back to the stage where the band was jamming away... heh.

I bet the producers were upset they weren't able to achieve a shot with both Chris Martin AND the expensive pyrotechnics in the same frame...

BTW I saw Coldplay at the Shoreline a week ago! It was great!

I'm pretty sure this was rehearsed way ahead of time, therefore the producers were expecting it and had nothing to be upset about. Performances are always done exactly like rehearsed beforetime.

As for the bandmates being upset, I doubt it. I'm sure Will would've been the first one to object, if it had bothered any of them!

the vma's were just awful, mtv is crap.

im angry they cut the song so short where other really crappy performers got alot more time, coldplay never gets the respect they deserve..well when it comes to MTV...

i cannot wait for the grammys, they are going sweep em.

Yeah, Chris going into the crowd was rehearsed. I posted pictures from Getty earlier on here of him out in the same exact area, but during rehearsals. It was nothing new to producers.

^I'm so excited for the Grammys! They might not win this trivial MTV bullshit, but they'll get what matters! I'm keepin' the faith!

I know it was rehearsed, hence the "Perhaps the pyrotechnics were simply a way to get everyone's attention back to the stage where the band was jamming" comment. It was a joke [sort of].

>> As for the bandmates being upset, I doubt it.

You never know! The recording of X&Y almost split up the band, remember? Now obviously, tensions during songwriting and recording are certainly way more intense than those that may arise from a performance, but if relations betwixt bandmates are already negative, this could've fueled the fire even more.

Of course, who am I to say how the bandmates feel about Chris and vice versa, but all I'm saying is that it's possible someone may have been a little offended if relations were already poor.

Coldplay has become so successful (and huge!), so I wouldn't think [hope] anyone within the band is having problems. If you look at my post again, you'll see that it is I who was a little ticked, maybe because I've been in a few bands (one where I was the frontman) and have experienced what it's like on both ends - the attention you receive as frontman, and the neglect you experience as a musician. This is only amplified a hundredfold when you get as big as Coldplay. It's a shame, really.

>> It was nothing new to producers.

I know. But a shot of Chris singing his heart out, arms outstretched, eyes closed, with a beautiful waterfall of sparks streaming down behind him and the rest of the band - now THAT's what I call a money shot! It's what prompts the directors to yell "CUT TO CAMERA 17! CAM 17! NOW!" in the control room. ;)

Alvin, I think you're thinking too much into it. The band IS used to Chris getting the attention, they know it and it happens with every single band on earth. The guys have said many times again that they all have input and the reason why they've argued about albums and such - is because they disagree. Chris was there with the band for the entire performance and with the crowd a mere what? 30 secs? They would have said something if they were uncomfortable with the audience bit..and it's not like the rest of the band is attention hungry or anything.

Guess I don't understand why anyone would be bothered by that, I really liked it. It was a nice change of pace.

Did anyone notice the way Paulina Rubio removed Lil Jon's arm from her shoulders when he tried to hug her?

i did notice it------it was really funny---cause why would a whore be bothered by that????-

well, anyways----i loved the performance and i think chris going to the crowd was really kool cause it was different

and i loved it that they took many camera angles of Guy---he looked so cute :P

AWWWWEEEE.

IT WAS THE MOST ADORABLE THING WHEN THEY SHOWED GUY SINGING, AND HE LOOKED ALL PASSIONATE AND INTO IT.

That was the only good part basically, and you could hear him sing. And they showed alotttt of him, compared to usual. Eeeeek. I am developing a super crazy crush on Mr.Berryman. :D

I highly agree. :D Don't mind me... I can be a little nuts at times.

If the band truly were upset about this, we would hear something about it. Instead, we're getting indications of what the fourth album might sound like! I'm already really excited for it!

And apparently Coldplay is coming back around to tour a second time! How awesome!

I think will was sounding the best because they kept showing him rocking out. Or maybe it's just because he looks awesome when he plays the drums.

Anyway, I thought the majority of the award show was lame. Diddy is a terrible host, he thinks he's soooo amazing but he's not.

Oh yeah, and those cheese heads behined chris trying to act like him were so so stupid, just stand still and watch the man do his thing.

One more thing, are bands like Fall Out Boy or My Chemical Romance really that good? I think they could have found a zillion other bands that are better than them.

I watched the VMAs for a while, but when the first half hour or so was nothing but rap, I turned it off in disgust. This morning on the Today show, they mentioned Green Day was the "big winner" with Video of the year . . . And I have yet to watch their performance, which was really bad apparently??

Also: there was something about a shooting at the VMAs after the awards?? I dunno if I heard right??

Anyway, Coldplay's too cool for MTV!
