Chris Martin 'devastated' by bad reviews

I read a rather nasty review in The Guardian, where the guy started making comparisons and saying they weren't as good as..well, who ever....and then starts talking about how new bands sound like old bands...bla bla bla....and then says that Keane sounds just like Supertramp! After that I felt much better...obviously this guy hasn't a clue....like most critics.

^Lol.

Screw the fucking bad reviews. They have their own, fucked up opinions. Chris shouldn't be so let down.

Sure, X&Y wasn't so great, but it's still great. :)

P.S. - Have those assholes heard any of the other music shit in the world today? They'd have pages after pages of negative blabber if they were forced to write a review for one of the many shitty bands out there today. -_-

If they actually had to write reviews for those albums and people actually bought albums according to what was written, the whole music industry would go caput!

Of course you can't please everyone' date=' but when people of a respectable class begin to slander your album and exaggerate its lousiness, yeah, I think you have a reason to be 'devastated'. The Rolling Stone review was at least respectable, though, it didn't outline only the bad. The NY review, contrarily, was out-and-out nasty. [/quote']

Well, Chris' response was certainly exaggerated though not unexpected, he is after all the guy who sometimes feels like the world may come tumbling down :P I agree with you Sir Raptor, why can't people be more objective about their views instead of totally liking/hating something outright and then finding reasons to justify it

ARent music critics generally failed musicians? No sour grapes then ...... I do wonder sometimes what the point of critics is, who are these people who think they can tell us what to like and what not to like? Also, the world of music is a very bitchy one, as well as artists there are all sorts of paracitical occupations feeding off them. Which would you rather be?

Isnt enjoyment of music very personal and subjective. You like it if it speaks to you. However in the industry there has to be an element of the emperors new clothes, psuedes, the need to be seen in the right circles, like the right music, diss the right music.

It is hurtful when people lay into you. If you are basically a decent person with integrity you are bound to be hurt. But I think it wears off and you get your perspective back.

oh man, i cringed when i read the reviews for x&y because you could just tell that the guys thought they had actually made something fantastic and all they were hearing before the albums release was how incredible they were.

definitely set chris up for a fall. meh, hopefully this will give them drive for album number 4.
