What does everyone think of the Fix You b sides?

I think that the new version of The World Turned is very good... It have a good rythm, it´s melodic

They must have called the song "Under The Sun" and not "The World Turned" and make this one in studio version

They're both a ton of crap. World Turned Upside Down is forgettable, boring and just altogethor one of the least original and exciting songs Coldplay has ever written, and Pour Me has those awful screams at the end which are way too loud (which brings me to my next point) and the mix sucks. Whoever mixed this should be fired.

:stunned:

The worse parts of the songs... Now for the good parts:

I like Will's drumming for The World Turned Upside Down.

It has a catchy bass too, except there's an even catchier one on White Shadows which now overshadows The World Turned... too much repeating of a good thing? Pour Me would be quite good actually, it has some few interesting ideas musically but the guys just didn't spend enough effort gelling it all together... Instead, this combination jars and nothing really stands out.

It is one of their most crappy releases to date- the ideas are there but they're not ready for listening yet- reminds me of the time I first heard the pre-AROBTTH version of Amsterdam live in Sydney. I cringed and thought, "thank god these guys keep working and improving on their songs, it's unrecognisably bad". Then, I didn't know how crappy their unready songs could be... Same comment for the rest of X&Y, the foursome really didn't spend enough time refining & rehearsing their songs, and it shows in most of the songs on this one. I am disappointed with how they let slip all the potential

I think b-sides are just as important as album tracks, look at bands like Hope of the states who include their brilliant b-sides in their set list. However I actually think these b-sides are not that bad, quite good even. The world turned upside down cheered me up the first time I heard it and I was feeling quite low and I havent been able to stop listing to it since

i like world turned upside down quite a lot. pour me (anyone know why it is spelt pour on the single btw?) sounds ok, but it is a crap recording, a studio version would have been tons better for a start.

i think the problem with both songs though, as some people have mentioned is that, whilst they are good, they are not memorable. can't see coldplay doing either live on the new tours, and no, certainly not as good as one i love, crests of waves, animals, etc.

they're not crap though. well, world turned isn't anyway....

come on, compared to maroon 5 they are sheer brilliance!

;)

Haha very good point!!! I dont think they are tooo bad, but i agree that they arent very memorable. xoxox

Well, surprisingly (or not)... they've grown on me. World Turned Upside Down is so catchy

I only bought the single today (haven't had time, what with starting 6th form this week n all that) but I really like the b-sides. Both of em. =)

I don't know why but I really like World Turned Upside Down. I will admit that it is different to the usual Coldplay and probably not X&Y material but there is just something about it that makes it good for me. The words and the rhythm all sound great to me but we all like different songs for different reasons and who knows...come a few months I may hate it. I have a version of Poor Me or Pour Me that is different to the Fix You one which I think is a lot better.

I love The World Turned...such a catchy song! In my opinion, it's kind of Hardest Part-ish, but with some new stuff thrown in. Not so much of a fan of Pour Me (or Poor Me), though. It is starting to grow on me, though. Everytime I hear Chris' screams, I can't help but laugh.

are you kidding?? every aspect of this song is a rip off of them-selves. the only thing "different to the usual Coldplay" is that the song sucks.

I liked the Mexico City version of Pour Me with the massive keyboard solo. That would have sounded unbelievable in studio.

absolutly.
