Speed Of Sound or Fix You?

Featured Replies

Which of the singles from "X&Y" do you like best?

I agree. I honestly believe that when im 80years old 'Fix You' will still be in my Top3 favorite songs of all time, its so emotional, simply beautiful. :)

Both!

It depends what mood I am in.

I like both songs a lot, but Fix You is beautiful.

I preffer Fix you for the same reasons that tell us steph. Moreover, I've heard on the radio so much times "Speed of sound"...

 Tears stream down your face and I  LOVELY lyrics, LOVELY video-clip!!

I liked the Speed of Sound video better but overall, Fix You is the better single.

Fix You didn't catch on like SoS did though... at least in the states. Or in Florida. I don't hear it anywhere and where the hell is the video?? I haven't even seen that on tv. I have to watch it from the computer.

:stunned: Really?! Its played quite a lot over here....well not as much anymore, but i heard it quite a lot on radio&saw it lots on TV at first.

yeah i think I may have heard FIX YOU on the radio here in Canada maybe once. they play SOS all the time though. :o

I guess I like Speed of Sound better, though Fix You is really good. Chris express his desire of pouring out his heart in the song SoS, that's really touching to me

That was weird, i just read this thread, came off the computer, turned on my TV and Fix You video was on MTV Hits! :D

Fix You much better song than Speed of Sound, but i think b-sides from Speed of Sound(Proof,Things I don't understand) more enjoyable.

Speed of Sound! Awesome still! :)

when i first heard Speed Of Sound on the radio i thought it was an outstanding song ... i still do but now its been played soooo much my appreciation of it has decreased ...

now i think i prefer Fix You although they are both brilliant songs! :D

I prefer speed of sound as a SINGLE, because it's better for the masses

but overall i like fix you better, i just don't think that alot of non coldplay fans will connect with it

I guess i like Speed of Sound better cause i rather fast songs than slow ones but i still think Fix You is awesome!!

FIX YOU!!!!

yay! :)

I can't choose... they're both so different. Apples 'n' oranges.

Nice avatar, .*.+green_eyes+.*.!

Speed of Sound!

I can't stand Fix You as a single. It did have better B-Sides though.

I really like both of them and they both have great b-sides. Fix You is just amazing live and so emotional. Speed Of Sound has a more upbeat mood to it though and sometimes I would prefer to listen to that but my vote goes to Fix You!

I prefer Speed of Sound, for the sole reason that it isn't cliched rubbish.

^ What??? Did you said cliched rubbish?? I can't believe it!!!! Do you think that FY is cliched rubbish???? :stunned: :stunned: :o :o

why yes, yes I did.

(I'm not sure if that is a serious question or a sarcastic comment based on my long-stated dislike of the song. I'm going to assume the former)

DISCLAIMER:- What follows is my opinion, if anyone calls me wrong I don't really care, as I won't listen to you. Feel free to disagree though:

I strongly believe that this is the worst song Coldplay has ever commited to an album. The musical sense is non-existent for the first half, just a horrible organ noise, some lovely (!) synths, a couple of piano notes and a faded acoustic rythym. The voice of Mr Martin is cruelly ruined by his insistence of singing the whole song in falsetto. Falsetto has it's place, but it is drastically over-used here. Musically, the second part is an improvement, and the only part that makes the song listen-to-able, but it is an attempt at a U2 sound (which I have nothing against, Low and White Shadows use similar methods that pay off) that doesn't come off as well as a U2 song.

However, the point I most take issue with the lyrics. These are so poorly, unimaginatively constructed that they seem to have come straight from a 5-year-old's "My first poetry" book, they are nothing but predictive cliche, words construed together so simply they have no real value.

The first time I heard this song (actually, I didn't manage to listen to it all the way through for about the first 6 or 7 attempts), I found it was so easy to guess the second half of each line having just heard the first, there's no feeling or personality present here.

There's more to right but it's late, I'm tired and trying to use sentences that are far too long. Good-night.
