When you say the musings... what exactly do you mean? Did you click on any of the links above on the page? Those are to old journals, one being a collection of poetry and things like that. Or were you referring to something else?

Yep, I meant the musings on the linked site... that link was the one originally on your siggy right? I clicked that one first before you changed it to your current one... Like I said earlier, I rather like those (as well as the current one)... the writing's sparse but lyrical, illogical in one sense but feels just right in another, just the way I like it :D

 

As for sending stuff, I'd appreciate it very much... Unforch, I'm in a limbo kind of situation... I'm about to go overseas to study in two months... So I'm not sure whether a package would reach me on time (the dodgy local postal service being the way it is... :dozey:). On the other hand, I guess we could give it a go if I still haven't managed to hear anything after I've reach Australia :lol:

Thanks for the .rar file... I've d'loaded it, the link works :) You've a good voice (reminds me of Nirvana), and rather good guitar playing skills too (the emo's there), did u do all the guitar work? If I didn't know, I'd have thought those recordings were live performances by an established singer-songwriter guitarist. Unforch, The Dark Dreams of Angels can't be extracted but I guess that's alright. Just to check, there're 9 vocals + guitars files and another 3 instrumental files right? Thanks again for sending them... Look forward to more of your songs :)

hmm... There were nine files in the 'covers' folder and four in the 'post-rock' or instrumental folder. Did it not un-zip the third folder? The third folder is the important one because it's the one with my original material. What are the 9 songs that you unarchived?

 

 

(and thanks for the compliments! I love music and I'm grateful every day that I am able to act on that love.)

^ All the nine songs in the 'covers' folder managed to be unzipped (engine, fog, first day of my life, i felt my size, in the aeroplane over the sea, red right ankle by Basement Ghost [that's u right? :D ]; and baby blue sedan, bankrupt on selling, other people's lives by bordem [your band? :P]).

 

The 'post-rock' folder, I've only managed to unzip "a circle has one side" and "outcry from an outcropping pt 2". I really love both these songs... Actually it's a shame I can't hear all the files in that folder, I rather fancy I'd like them better than those from 'Covers'. I would appreciate it very much if you'd care to resend 'post-rock'... Your guitar playing's the strong point I'd say, you're astonishingly good :o

 

Some constructive criticism? You're better than most amateur/non-commercial musician aspirants I've heard. Even better than many of the local bands here who've signed deals. The guitar work is your strongest point, while the singing & songwriting are good enough. But I'd say at some points the vocals needs reigning in (e.g. all the "oh yeah..."s in the last 2 minutes of other people's lives- sorry but they're cringe-inducing :P), and generally the songs would do better with more direction (i.e. tighter editing or having ideas that're more developed--> variations maybe?) - some songs just sound a wee bit too long.

hehehe, well the covers are just that, covers, so I've just taken what other people have done and kind of rehashed them. Some of the stuff I've done (mainly the covers) aren't exactly great work, but thanks so much. I'll be sure to resend the post-rock stuff as well as my original works. I'll make each folder has it's own zip so it's smaller and easier to unzip. The other folder that didn't unzip at all is the crucial folder because it's all my own work.

 

I'll have this done for you asap!

To me, the music has just been a vehicle to express the thoughts I've wanted to get out. I've never really seen it as anything special.

Kyle: I don't like The Greatest, either. To start, the artwork is shit. It reminds me of some horrible crap I could create in MS Paint in less than three minutes. Second, it just doesn't feel right. Something about it just doesn't sound good to me. Third, the band.... just kills the intimacy of her previous work. It's not the fact that there's a band playing behind her because she's been backed on previous work. I just can't put my finger on it. Maybe it can be said that it's too "positive." I'm not really sure.
