"We're Coldplay, from America"

 

Everyone knows that Coldplay are the next U2, but surely someone should have told them the mullets are optional?

 

Last year as baby Apple fell from the birth tree, sensible men of rock Coldplay dressed up as Towers of London and called themselves The Nappies for one hilarious day. Sporting bare chests, they went into Air Studios in London to record a hip-hop track that, fortunately, has only ever seen the light of day on the internet.

 

This previously unseen shot is one of the pictures unveiled for the first time in the NME Yearbook, where the band talk through their year in their own words. The NME Yearbook 2005 is out on November 8.
