OMG!!! i met Jose Gonzalez and i touched him!!!

the night show was sold out so went to the matinee performance but it was the best thing that could have happened!

was early to get the tickets. We passed the place and retraced our steps and just as we were going into the venue door i saw the familiar looking face of JG but he had a beard and i was not so sure-- and i just stared and i asked stupidly if he was Jose.

talked to him in spanish for a bit but all i wanted to ask was just not being asked i was too suprised at my luck (which i have little or nothing of) he was so handsome, i kept on staring at his curely beard and hair which he seemed put off by - so i decided it best not to ask for a kiss and huge. a girl who turned out to be from the states thanked my sis and i as she had promised her boyfriend she'd she JG even though she didn't know who he was- she now has an autograph when she gets home lol.

He then casually walked off down the street which was slowed down every now and then as fans stopped to chat!

The show was awesome, the opening act had a violin and guitars and the singer had such a beautiful voice and she was very funny between songs.

When Jose played people leaned forward in their seats, the sound in that theatre was amazing and clear and loud.

After the show my sis heard someone say that he was a man of few words, thier friend responded ignorantly that perhaps he was shy or that he was not confident speaking english- that really pissed me off it was really condencending- i'm sure he can handle the english language if he can sing in it. His name may be of spanish orgin but he's from sweden not from a third world country ( aparantly some people believe no one would know the english language in a third world country geesh!)

José Gonzalez is wonderful.. His music just blows me away, although I've only heard one single song so far - it was the first to be released in the UK, I can't remember its name.. Very slow, just him and his guitar, do you know what I mean? Maybe it's "Crosses"?!

^ its probably "heartbeats", "crosses" if i'm not mistaken was the second single

check out my first post on page one has some links you may be interested in ;)

Oh Jose is lovely. Love his album. Crosses is such a beautiful song, my favourite. <3

His 2nd album comes out this coming week :)

Well worth a listen if you loved the first album

O h I love him. I've been talking about him in the scandinavian music thread. I first listened to him about a year ago. Now I'm going to see him this December when he comes here :) He's great.

He cancelled a show here last year and still hasn't made it up. :(

Agreed! If I see the concert promotor dude at Caribou I'll ask him if he is still planning on coming back at some point.

Its funny that Jose plays here since its a pretty small place. (I saw him here 2 summers ago)

Odd.

I think he needs to do a show at the MTS centre so I can see him. :P

Nobody good ever plays in Manitoba.

It sounds like a lot of people play where you are, let's trade provinces. :charming:

It's nice, we do get quite a few good shows here. I mean most bands do hit up Montreal-Toronto-VAncouver only. But we do get quite a few good shows here regardless. I enjoy it. Hey Rosetta! loves it here, that fact alone makes Halifax awesome.

Is Halifax the only Canadian place Jose Gonzalez was gonna go?

I think he possibly was going to Ottawa. But yeah it was pretty much the only place haha

I don't understand why a lot of foreign artists only go to Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto. They don't even really feel like the main cities of Canada to me.

Probably because they are so close to the US? I don't know. I don't get why Broken Social Scene and Arcade Fire don't do cross Canada tours. They're from here for pete's sake. At least Metric know how to tour properly!

You would think they would do a lot of Canadian tours.

I wanna see Metric. :wacky:

I think they last stopped here in 2008...I'm not sure though, I should look it up. Maybe they came and I didn't notice.

I love how this turned into a Metric thread and such. :P
