Does coldplay fake it live?

Featured Replies

hi i have a retarted friend who thinks that coldplay possibly might not actually play anything live. He thinks that just because for 30 seconds of fix you when chris spins the light theres piano playing and hes not playing it. I tried to tell him that they break out into songs randomly someitmes and extend stuff but hes an idiot. He thinks they record everythign previous to the concert then just pretend to play can i get some errefutable evidence that this is all wrong that they actually play so he'll shut up. I have a version of swallowed in the sea live from alpine valley where they fuck up at the end but i cant send him it cuz my comps retarted.

yes, they lipsynch and mime their instruments

especially will. i don't know how they expect us to think they're actually playing

hey well done panicator! youre the first one to spell retarded correctly on this thread.

Well, certainly Coldplay isn't faking it. But they may be using some prerecorded parts to play things that are only possible in the studio. But what's wrong with that? That's like saying it's wrong for a guitarist to use a pedal. I'm a big Kansas fan and would love to see them play "The Pinnacle" live which is basically impossible with the band's current configuration. But it wouldn't bother me a bit if they had to "fake" part of it.

Some people....Ya know?

Of course, let's not get started on the "Britney" acts of the world!

hahaha

obviously they're playing live

chris screws up a lot. :)

he started playing the start of "Warning Sign", and stopped and said "sorry we haven't played this in a while (plays a few chords), okay."

and a lot of times he starts playing a song and stops it because he forgot to say something, then starts it up again. haha

  i didn't even notice that!

I think the band is actually holographic images and the band are all at home doing their own thing.

I agree. But those holographic images sure do put on one hell of a show!

Seriously, Chris screws up a lot! I love it though because then he feels he has to explain himself and runs on a tangent of ramblings. In the Miami show (the show before The Horrid Cancellations of 2005) he messed up a few chords and things, so it's definitely not pre-recorded.

Unless! :idea2: They pre-record the mistakes as well!

it's live, believe us and expecially me

but they does fake it when they perfom at television/radio, when its just one song.. Its easy to see it and hear it...

........of course, but they don't fake the concerts

but they does fake it when they perfom at television/radio' date=' when its just one song.. Its easy to see it and hear it...[/quote']

It depends though. Some tv shows (CDUK for example) don't allow artist to play their instruments live. That's not exactly the band's decision.

its irretating when they fake it on television :(

it makes people who dont know much of them to dont like them..

Like CDUK, i hate their performance of cduk, deleted the videos from my computer...

:)

It's obvious they don't just use prerecorded things.

They do at some points in their performance, most bands do.

U2 does it a lot in love performances too.

"Fix You" is an example of a song that's changed in the live version, sometimes you hear things and they just aren't the same, for the better. Yellow is played on acoustic and electric in the recording, and live it's electric.

Sometimes you just have to have less ignorant friends, and know how to spell retarded.

well...chris def does not lip synch but there is a pre-recorded backing track on some songs that is very obvious (most obvious of which is fix you, after chris spins the light bulb and begins playing the piano there is no difference b/c the piano portion is being played on a backing track) there is also a "5'th" member that most people dont know about...he is always on the side of the stage and he plays the synth part of alot of the songs (speed of sound) and acts as the sound manager of the show i think.

the production of teh show is enormous and they do it so often that of course the band has some "techincal" help. the backing tracks are used rarely and only on some songs, and ti only adds to teh show as a whole. the band is still talented and their live shows cant be beat.

Umm, you do know that someone off-stage has been playing the guitar for yellow since 2002, right?

i didn't know that, but that's fine, heh

if it's necessary to have the guitar there, cool. but if the off-stage dude is just there 'cause the band's just lazy or something, that's a different story. :P

yeah...its pretty obvious
