Coldplay Private Acoustic Performance San Francisco 02/01/06

Featured Replies

I won a contest out here in San Francisco, and I was able to see a private acoustic performance yesterday by Coldplay..There was only like 30 people in the entire room!....It was so amazing!....They played 5 songs and then after they sat down and talked with everyone....I can't explain the feeling of seeing them play like 5 feet away from you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...Will Champion and Jon Buckland are soooooooooooooooooo HOT in person! They didn't allow you to take any pics while we were there, but I did manage to sneak a few shots....So when I got them downloaded, I will post them up here!

:o coool!

sounds like it was your lucky day. can't wait to see your pics!

What 5 songs did they play? And don't say Sparks or I'm going to be pretty jealous...and pissed, lol.

Can you give us details of where in San Fran they did this (I used to live there), and what the setlist was?

That's really awesome, you're really lucky! Damn, so jealous :/ :P

I read it on the coldplayer yesterday and thought it must have been awesome. only 30 people... aww. :) lucky you!

So jealous  but happy for you I'm sure it has been amazing

Wow, that sounds amazing Mrs. Champion!!!! Cant wait to see your pics, and hear what the set list was! :)

wow thats great, I know exactly how you feel when you are that close words can't explain it!

It was in a small theatre at the Metreon out here in San Francisco.....When they walked in the room, my heart just started to beat soooooooooo fast!!!!..I just couldn't believe they were like 5 ft away from us!!!!...The songs they played were Panic, Ring of Fire (the Johnny Cash song), and Trouble......There was two more songs they played..It was the first two they played when they came in the room, but I was soooo nervous I can't remember them now!!!! I have it recorded at home, so I'll play it back and get the correct playlist...Sorry about that!...They were going to play Fix You but they played Touble instead....Trouble was really great, and one of my favorites..........It was the most amazing experience!

How do you have it recorded at home? Did you tape the show while you were actually there, or did it broadcast sometime that you taped from?

Very cool indeed.

It was on the radio yesterday...So I skipped class to record it......

It is something that you can post in the multimedia section as a digital audio file (mp3, aif, flac, etc.....) download? Or did you record it on tape? If you need help on that, I'm sure we would be happy to talk you through how to do that.

I recorded it on tape..So I have no idea how to download it

You have to have it transfered to digital format first. You can take it to have this done or try one of these options:

Here's a software, which maybe will be helpful to transfer files from tape to PC:

OR

B. Converting tape to mp3 is easy:

1. Get cassette player with a line out

2. Plug line out of cassette player into line in of computer

3. Download a free program like Audacity to record audio

4. Press record on the computer

5. Press play on the cassette player

6. Save as .mp3

Now, how to upload if you have iTunes (instructions compliments of Freeplay):

OK, here's the instructions for iTunes:

1. Open iTunes

2. Insert the CD

3. The CD should show up on the panel on the left. Click on it.

4. The tracks will display in the main window. You'll probably need to rename them since it's a custom CD. To rename, just right-click on the track you want to change, and select Get Info from the pop-up. Go to the Info tab, then enter Name, Artist, Album, etc. and click OK.

5. Now you need to adust the encoding options. Click Edit in the menu bar at the top, then select Preferences....

6. Click the Advanced tab at the top of the new window, then the Importing tab in the sub-window.

7. Click on the drop-down box next to where it says "Import Using:" and select MP3 Encoder. Then where it says Setting, pick "Higher Quality (192 kbps)." (As an alternative you could pick WAV encoder for a lossless recording, but this will result in a larger file). Uncheck "Play songs while importing." Click OK.

8. In the upper-right corner of iTunes, click the circle that says Import CD.

9. If you're on XP, your files should be put in the folder My Documents > My Music > iTunes > iTunes Music > [Artist] > [Album]. You'll need to know this information for rapidshare.

10. If you're on Mac or for some reason they're not there, check the settings in iTunes to see where it puts the files. To do this, go back to the Edit menu, and select Preferences... again. Then pick the Advanced tab, then the General tab. You'll see a box that gives your "iTunes Music folder location." Write this down if you need to.

Now it's time to upload to rapidshare! (This is much easier.)

1. Go to http://www.rapidshare.de

2. Click the Browse... button.

3. Now navigate to the first file using the location. You want to choose the actual mp3 (or wav) file, not just the folder. Then click Open.

4. Now click Upload!

5. Wait while rapidshare uploads your file. You'll see a status bar that shows your status.

6. When rapidhare is done uploading, you'll get 2 links: a Download-Link and a Delete-Link. Copy the Download-Link, then come back to Coldplaying.com and paste it into your message. Repeat to upload the other track. Then just post!

Clear as mud?

Since this broadcast is "live from the archives", then it is probably the show at the Shoreline Amphitheatre on August 19, 2005.

I sent in a question to try and get into that show...I complusively checked my email like 4 times a day, even after I came back from the oaklnad show at like 2 am.

Hope you can get the files up soon. :D

Thanks everyone! Looking forward to the piccies... :)
