Now I got your attention,what the hell is the song "White Shadows" about? I've never been good at interpreting songs or the like but I just can't get it.Is it references to ghosts?Is it about being a ghost and wanting to come back?? by which i mean "Your part of the human race,all of the stars and the outer space" and maybe wanting to return in a "permanent state"?? anyways if anyone has any info or know's better please let me know coz I love this song but it baffles me.

Ive never really thought about it... off the top of my head it seems to me as if its about daydreaming, thoughts, your hopes and fears, things inside your mind that you always wonder about..things in the world that are confusing and cant be explained? Its a hard one! :laugh4:

I don't think it's about anything as concrete as 'a ghost.' The meaning is fluid depending on the listener. For me it's about trying to find your way and your place in a crazy, crazy world. Even though we're 'part of a plan,' we can't always see what that grand plan is. Humm. Just my take on it. Regardless of what it all means, it's an amaaazing song. :D

Could the white shadows may be angels, maybe? I've always kinda thought that.

 

To me it's about acknowledging the world around you and your surroundings.. knowing that every single person is here for a reason, and we're all part of a plan. When I hear the song thinking of that, it makes perfect sense.

there used to be a tv show called the white shadow directed by gwyneth's dad too. but it has nothing to do with the song

I posted my idea of what this song means a while ago in the "next single's music video" type thread I made in the album section... i have to go dig it up, heh.

Chris said he isn't a lyricist and that's why Coldplay CD inserts never have the lyrics on them. I wish they did, as I always want to know exactly what is being sung. Chris is too humble and self-effacing - he may not be a Keats or Wordsworth, but when the lyrics and the music combine, there is something which is just so profound and touches your soul!

I always imagined the "little white shadows" to be referring to people and how we're all unique and special in our own way, even though we are all "part of a system, a plan."

 

Anyway, as someone said before on this thread, whatever it is really about, it is an amazing song! :D
