September 22, 200619 yr Poor Gwyn... It's probably on the board somewhere already, but I suppose it belongs here... Coldplay gets cold shoulder By Roxanne Millar 22sep06 BEING the frontman of one of the biggest bands on earth still won't get you a gig on underground SBS hit show RocKwiz. Just ask Chris Martin of Coldplay. Host Julia Zemiro says he is the one person they would ban from the show apart from his wife Gwyneth Paltrow. "She just shouldn't have sung," Zemiro said. "And we have a bit of a running joke with Chris." In its final episode tomorrow, RocKwiz will unite the bad boys of rock with the beautiful broads of song for an action-packed temporary goodbye. Appearing will be Tex Perkins, Tim Rogers and Dave Larkin, along with Deborah Conway, Ella Hooper and Rebecca Barnard. The show will be back for another series, which will begin filming at Melbourne's Esplanade Hotel next month. Zemiro said it had enjoyed slow-burning success. "I just got a phone call from James Black, who is the guitarist and keyboardist in the RocKwiz band," she said. "He is touring with the Countdown Spectacular and he said everybody on the show loves RocKwiz and they all want to be on it. "And John Paul Young would love to have a go, so all these things are coming out of the woodwork." Zemiro said the show's appeal was in its throwback to the Countdown era. "When Tex Perkins was on the show he was saying what he loves is that it feels like being on Countdown again, where anything could happen. "It was live, there was music, there was laughter, there was improvising and sometimes magic would happen and sometimes big mistakes would happen. "But it was exciting to watch because it wasn't so pre-produced." With quiz shows cluttering our screens these days, Zemiro said they had become the obvious replacements for reality TV. "They're cheap to make," she said. "Ever since Trivial Pursuit and pub trivia became so popular, people love to show off their knowledge. "If you know something and have an area of expertise you get excited at having to be tested on that." She said her next best areas of knowledge after music were Shakespeare and cooking. "On Australia's Brainiest Comedian I beat geniuses like Mark Holden, Andrew G and Gary Sweet and put my special interest as Shakespeare's plays," she said. "I've been to acting school and used to work with the Bell Shakespeare Company. "And cooking because my father was a chef you could do CooKwiz and I'd be into it."

September 23, 200619 yr Gwyneth On Moses, Movies & Jay-Z LOS ANGELES (September 21, 2006) -- Access Hollywood's Billy Bush sat down with Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow on Wednesday to talk about her new life as a mom and why she turned to the bible to name her son. "Moses is a big name to live up to," Billy said. "Well, I think he's the man to live up to it," Gwyneth smiled. "When we were pregnant with Apple, if she was a boy, she would've been named Moses. We just always had the name." Gwyneth shared why she and her husband of almost three years, Coldplay's Chris Martin, were set on naming their now 5-month-old son Moses long before he was ever born "Moses to me is just such an amazing name. Plus, he was born on the holiest Sabbath of the year, which is the Saturday before Passover. And he was born at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York," she explained. "This is all adding up," Billy said. "He had to be Moses!" "Exactly," Gwyneth laughed. "And it was my father's Hebrew name." Sadly, Gwyneth lost her father (director Bruce Paltrow) to throat cancer four years ago. Gwyneth granted Access an exclusive interview to talk about her new line of Estee Lauder bath products, Pleasures, whose sales on Wednesday benefited the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. "You've had your own personal connection obviously to cancer with losing your father. Is this event, this campaign a way of remembering and honoring him?" Billy asked. "Of course. Anytime I hear anybody has cancer, I react on a cellular level," she said. "Do you go back to that moment when you found out?" Billy asked. "Yeah, in a way. I never would if I hadn't had such a profound experience with cancer affecting my family the way it has," Gwyneth added. And now that she has her own children, Gwyneth is practicing preventive medicine. "As a mother with two small children, do you watch what they eat?" Billy inquired. "What's the program with them?" "Oh yeah," Gwyneth revealed. "They eat whole grains and they eat, you know…" "Are you tough on them, like McDonald's only once a week," Billy joked. "No McDonald's. Never. Over my dead body," she smiled. Clearly, Gwyneth is a mom who knows exactly what she wants, especially when it comes to birthdays – she's turning 34 next week. "How are you celebrating your birthday?" asked Billy. "Actually, I'm going to go to the Royal Albert Hall in London to see Jay-Z. It's the first ever hip-hop concert in the Royal Albert Hall," Gwyneth revealed. "When you said the Royal Albert Hall, I'm thinking Tchaikovsky must be back," Billy joked. "Nope, it's Jay-Z," she smiled. "Are you a rap fan or do you know him?" Billy asked. "I'm a Jay-Z fan. He's my best friend," she laughed. As it turned out, Gwyneth was full of surprises, as Billy found out. "Are you coming back to work?" he asked. "I'm coming back. I'm ready!" she said. http://www.accesshollywood.com/news/ah1695.shtml
September 23, 200619 yr This whole Jay-Z thing is starting to scare me.. I knew before that Gwyneth and Chris are kinda friends with Beyoncé and Jay-Z, but.. the more I think about it, the more I hate the fact :P I can't stand Beyoncé, especially because of that whole fur thing, it's just disgusting.. Jay-Z seems ok, but can you imagine him as "Gwyneth's best friend"?? :P
September 23, 200619 yr Well, opposites attract and I can't think of anyone more opposite to Gwyn and Chris than Jay-z and Beyonce.
