clothes??

Featured Replies

When I was in London two days ago, I was walking down the street with all the designer clothes in (prada, dolce and gabbana etc etc) and wondered why do people spend so so much money on clothes that are probably not even that more well made than normal clothes? How can people spend so much money on one dress or shirt? :o I know that very rich people can afford to, and it's a 'luxury' thing to them perhaps..but I still do not get how you could spend so much money on one item!! What are everyone elses' opinions on this?

Are fashion and clothes are important to you? What is the most expensive clothes that you have bought? Does anybody own any designer stuff? or do you prefer to buy cheaper clothes (well in comparison to designer labels) and save your money for other things?

:D

I don't think that clothes is something you should spend much money on.But if somebody has that point to buy D&G, Guccy and stuff, I don't mind...Maybe I can't understand cause I'm not rich and if I have money it all goes to cd's and books.

Most I spend on clothes is like... a 40 quid pair of jeans every couple of months. I'm usually pretty good with clothes most of the stuff I wear is rather cheap.

I have a problem when it comes to trainers though. My 4 pairs of trainers I have cost £260. :(

i think its because we think we need to have them because of the company or cause someone like chris martin might have a certain brand so we think subconciously well if its good enough for chris martin then it must be for us...thats my theory...

wanna look good and have good quality good looking cloths you have to spend alot. my brother makes fun of me for spending 70 bucks a shirt on Ralph Lauren but it looks better then most cloths and last longer because its made nicer with nice material. now like gucci and prada are just too much to pay for cloths.

I like looking good and I care about my clothes & appearance, but the prices are extortionate for brands like Prada etc.

maybe they like to show off that they could afford that kind of stuff..

there's so many place where you could get ralph lauren shirts for cheaper than the original price though, right?

You do get better quality items the more you spend on them, most of the time.

Let's take jeans for example. Next time you are out shopping or at the Mall make it a point to go into Oldnavy and check out some of the jeans they have. Then stroll on into the Gap and check out their jeans. Gap and Oldnavy are owned by the same company but Gap jeans are far superior in quality than what Oldnavy jeans are. The same goes for Gap and Banana Republic, same company but BR has better quality (more $$) items.

Another example, shoes. Desinger shoes have better material, they are better made, and they usually last longer than say Payless shoes. Don't get me wrong I have found some really great shoes at Payless but they only last a season at most. In this case you get what you pay for. There is a reason why cheap items are cheap, they are mass produced and not as quality made as the more expensive things.

If you are buying suits and coats you should go higher end, you don't have to buy Gucci or anything, because they will last a whole lot longer than cheaper products.

Fashion and clothes are semi important to me. I love making clothes and looking at clothes and reading about clothes..I guess it is really important to me!

I have very little top name designer items. I usually do by the cheaper items and save my money to pay for my education..

Well brad names do last longer. I don't really spend so much money on one piece of clothing. If I like something, I usually buy it no matter how much it costs because I know I won't find it the next time unless it costs more that $1, 000 and I have to really really really like the item unless I won't buy it, which btw it rarely happens. I have several clothes that are nice but I have more cheaper clothes which are the ones that I wear most of the time and they do last a lot less...

The most I spend on a clothing was on a red dress, it wasn't a brad dress but it was so beautiful and expensive. It was like $1, 500 or more and I ended up buying it because that was the one I liked and I was gonna wear it for my brother's wedding.. The sister has to look nice right?:p

I don't really give a **** what I wear or what other people wear.

I just wear quicksilver tees, these jeans from wal-mart, and a snug adidas track jacket most of the time.

And it's funny because a lot of random people ask me where i got my jeans, i just blurt out some random name brand like "abercrombie" and they say "cool! I really like them".

Tjmaxx i believe in america has some cheap Rl shirts but i think they may have mess up on them, but im not sure. however in perfu i know you can get then for like 20 bucks. my friends from peru adn his mom just moved from there to florida and bought him alot of abercrombie shirts for like 10 bucks a piece and some brand shirt that usualy cost 300 a shrit for like 60 dollars.

I don't really give a **** what I wear or what other people wear.

AF has good jeans.

AF has good jeans.

lol, yeah, and apearantly wal-mart jeans are just as good :laugh3:

never.

it was a joke. lol

Yeah, if you like your jeans pasted on and so low you can't stand up with out showin' a little behind.

But I hate Abercrombie so that might explain it..

i like getting new clothes, just cause it's fun when you get new stuff, but i know i'm pretty cheap when it comes to buying clothes....

The cheaper clothes i have usually last longer, i suppose the labels allow themsleves to be wreckless while making their clothes since they know ppl would buy it anyways cause it's deisel or whatever....

i do have a couple of deisel jeans, but one of them wripped and i've only had it for a few months. I have a 3 yr old jeans which is my fav and it's still perfect! So i know it's not me it's the jeans........

i just dont really see the point of spending so much money on clothes because they're labels- i think u should buy clothes you like no matter where they're from. Even if they're from the market... that's where u get the best things!!! :)

i think psychologically ppl like to buy labels only cause it makes them feel supirier, like if they show the world they can afford gucci than they must be very successful or what not...............

  • 1 month later...

i loooove going shopping and all that and i'm sure i'd buy designer clothes as well ... in case i could afford it ...

but most of my clothes are from H & M (and also on sale, he he). ...

i like the stuuf H & M produces ... their clothes look like designer stuff but they're very cheap! (a pair of jeans for only 10 €!!!) i luuuuurve H & M

and all the deisgner stuff i have is faked anyway ... he he ... eg my burberry belt +_+

fashion is important to me ... and that doesn't mean that i only hang out with stylish people.

i don't mind what other people are wearing as long as their character is good.
