I've been so busy packing up and seeing people that are leaving for uni, it's a crazy time right now!

Yup, I got back a little under a week ago...after a hellish 50+ hour journey back home (still recovering from that :sick:). Though two worlds apart (literally and figuratively), I had a fantastic time in both England and India. It was really special to see family again. :nice:

 

Looking forward to starting uni? It's your first year, right? You must be so excited!! Best of luck with the move.

Well the return trip should have 'only' taken 45 hours....but due to the delays caused by heightened security, we missed 2 connecting flights. :( I know the additional security is for our own saftey, but traveling is turning into such a headache. They seriously had a bazillion checkpoints within the secure section of the terminals. I think the whole system needs to be streamlined a bit. The lines were horrendous at times.

 

I took so many pictures I haven't even had time to go thru them all yet! :P I'll put some on my flickr account sometime soon though. While in England we made trips to the Cottswalds (saw the beautiful countryside), and we went up north to York. Weather there left a lot to be desired (freeezing!) but good times were had nevertheless. In London itself we did the normal touristy things (museums, play at the Globe, and SO MUCH WALKING). I spend a lot of time at home just hanging with my grandmother. :) Just as fun (shes a riot!). It's a shame you didn't make it to WOMAD. It was awesome! Some really talented musicians came to play. My favs were a rapper from Senegal and a Salsa music group from NYC. :P The whole thing was like a big world love fest! They had lots of social awareness booths, international food and dance, workshops, etc. Seriously worth it.

 

In India, we were traveling almost the whole time. Indian culture is so rich and vibrant - from the dance to the music to the spicy food....its an experience for your senses in every possible way. But visiting India is never easy. There is so much poverty and human suffering. After returning home I can't help but feel guilty for the way I live in contrast to all those who have so little (but still manage to smile).

Yay, first year of university is the best - So many new experiences to take in! What I enjoyed the most my first year was having the freedom to tailor my own education by choosing courses and activities. Are you going to be living in dorms? Do you know what you want to study yet? Lucky you - uni in London! What better place could one ask for, really?

Just remember not to spend all your loan on drinks and drugs
