May 9, 200620 yr The guy on my local news station compared it to the Al Capone's vault thing. A whole crap load of build up and then the big let down.
May 9, 200620 yr Author awww you guys!! :( I think it was still a great feat for him.. he's the only person to go down in history for living the longest underwater... so what he didn't make the 9 minutes... I think 7:08 is a great triumph in itself... I love him, I'd keep watching his stunts and tricks.. he's amazing. he really is a mind blowing man. I hope he comes out of the hospital ok.
May 9, 200620 yr Yeah, can't really be pissed off cos he couldn't do it. He put his life on the line for your entertainment.
May 9, 200620 yr I watched 24 instead. I switched between channels only near the end, and I saw him at 7 minutes, and he needed air.
May 9, 200620 yr I think he's amazing. :nice: I read his book a few years back and it got me into his stuff. I went to see him when he was in his box in London, it was really cool. I guess he's like a modern-day Houdini, and personally I think it's awesome that we have someone like him around. For me, watching his stuff - especially the street magic, is like a sort of escapism. He may not have completed this one, but who cares? What he's achieved is still astounding! :) And Danielle - the point is that he's trying to show the world what the human body and mind is truly capable of by pushing himself to the very limits. I think it's fascinating, and it shows that us humans totally underestimate ourselves.
May 9, 200620 yr Oh no, I wasn't really upset or anything about it. That comment was me attempting to be more amusing than serious. 7 minutes without breathing is absolutely insane... But didn't the person who set the record die anyways, that woman who went free diving down 500+ feet, then had the malfunction with the balloon? I mean... that shouldn't even be counted as a record, since uh... it killed her? lol, I don't know but that was pretty scary to see... :\ That trick he did, with the tooth, was absolutely amazing... How the fuck did he pull THAT off!??! He is an amazing "magician".
May 9, 200620 yr Definatley. That was awesome. I guess he's an illusionist more than anything. I'd love to be able to do stuff like that! And no worries about the comment! I see what you meant now :) About the free diving woman - woah. :stunned: I'd never heard much about that before. I dont think that should be counted as a record either! :\

I don't think she was going for that type of record though.. she was going for the farthest dive... :( still sad though.
May 9, 200620 yr Author the thing with the lady??? I think they said 2003.... not sure. Maybe earlier....
May 10, 200620 yr Author he was on Good Morning America this morning.. when asked if he would do it again.. he quickly replied "No" poor guy! He looked good though.. he said his hands and feet were pretty much ok and back to normal.. its his muscles that ached and blisters on his back as well as rashes from the sunburn he recieved. The reflection off the sphere thru the glass and water acted as a magnifying glass of sort causing the sun to reflect much brighter than he had expected. He looked good overall... I mean come on.. he's David Blaine!!! lol He says he feels he let people down.. :(
May 10, 200620 yr Awww bless him. He's so silly, he hasn't let anyone down. I'd like to see whoever criticises him try and do what he's done! :dozey:
May 10, 200620 yr Really? I heard on CNN that he said he would try again, but this time he would just hold his breath, and not be in a tank for a week.
May 10, 200620 yr Author Really? I heard on CNN that he said he would try again' date=' but this time he would just hold his breath, and not be in a tank for a week.[/quote'] uh... thats not the same thing!!! :P He said he wouldn't do the stunt again.. but he didn't mention anything about trying to hold his breath again. But I only caught the last end of the interview...... I think he'll be on 'The Insider' tonight too... maybe he'll say so there..

How painful.:(
May 10, 200620 yr Yea that sucks^^ Oh, sorry, I guess its not the same if he's not in the tank for a week, lol :drunk:
May 11, 200620 yr I tried it. I made 17 seconds. LMFAO! I can't believe he could do 7. That is UNBELIEVABLE. Yet.... I guess it has to be believable now, since he did it!
May 12, 200620 yr Author they say its easier to hold your breathe underwater than it is above water....
