I just mean that if you had any real understanding of the "game", you would know there was a big difference between what happened against Paraguay (admittedly a poor performance, especially in the second half) and today.

When a team just puts 11 players behind the ball and don't do anything to actively WIN the match, it often ruins the match as a spectacle. England deserved to win today because they were the only team TRYING to win, irrespective of the "performance".

They only tried to break out and attack once it was too late. That doesn't count. They had nothing to lose by that stage.

There are no "easy" matches in the World Cup. However, it's true that England can play much better than that.

Even though they might have played a type of game that if it is played by a team with large amounts of talent could be considered less entertaining, the fact that they were tremendous underdogs and almost managed to hold one of the supposed best teams in teh world to a scoreless draw made it even better.

And ALMOST isn't good enough!! When you sit back like that and only try for a draw, you're unlikely to ever win anything.
