It's only one case....I don't know how they mean it...but I won't interprete it as arrogance...

more as happiness!

ditto... it's comparable to the situation in 2002 - we are "a little bit" surprised about the job of klinsmann's team. :nice:

Well in my opinion it's a sign of arrogance and extreme over-confidence!;)

i don't think so, i know i'm not german and i'm not there, but hosting the world cup is a big thing, and having fireworks would be more as a celebration, and a sign of happiness. germany is the hosting country after all, and to win is a good feeling. if they were some random country and they decided to have fireworks then it's weird. but since they're the hosting nation, it would be to do with the euphoria and happiness surrounding it.

i know like when we hosted the olympics, we celebrated everything, there was such a great feeling surrounding the entire time it was being hosted, and to call any of that over-confidence or arrogance, is just taking the completely wrong impression of it all.

it's never meant with that intention.

Well I think the host nation are getting too carried away and expecting too much. That's what it seems like.;)

as is the case with every host nation of every world cup of every sort. rugby world cup, football world cup, the olympics. it's the euphoria that sweeps the nation and it happens every single time. and i think they should be allowed to. ;)

OMG, what a game, what a night! I'm so happy!!!

It was so unbelievable! I watched the game in Bremen at one of these big Public Viewing areas and it was sooo fantastic. The match was very exciting, but Germany was the better team, especially in the second half. Lahm, Odonkor, Klose and Neuville played so good and the defence wasn't weak. That's the most important thing! The referee was blind and I thought it will end 0:0, but then Neuville scored! It was totally crazy!

After that all people were screaming and dancing... I never saw it here before. There were fireworks (I don't know why it should be arrogant? It's only a symbol of happyness, because our nation won and we're the host of the World Cup) and everyone sounded the horn. Later, you didn't have to pay for your train ticket... :nice: When I came home at 3am, my parents were still awake, because they also celebrated the victory with other friends. I'm so incredible happy, words can't describe it and I'm looking forward to my trip to Berlin on Tuesday. :)

But what happened to the BBC coverage? It was very scandalous and German TV was very angry about it. First they talked about a ball which was allegedly stolen by Torsten Frings... :dozey: Don't they have other problems?! Later Lineker said: "Seems to be a massive invasion of Poland fans into Germany, must be some irony there somewhere"! For God's sake, this comment was just unnecessary!!! :veryangry: But honestly, what should you expect of a channel where you can watch Nazi films in the primetime every week?!

Well it will just make everyone else laugh all the harder when they get knocked out!;)

Did Lineker really say that?

Are you talking about "The Great Escape"?:P

I don't know what was said, but the BBC is far better than any channel in Germany, that's for sure!:D

And if it's only a "celebration", they should have fireworks after EVERY match.

dmn..german-poland game was boring...

haaha...i think i'm the only one think that...

i fell asleep watching it and end up missing the goal..

but ballack plyed though..fancy that...

last night was sooo awesome! big screens are definitely the best place to be these days :D

yaaaay!!!

I think Ballack was not as good as usual....he can do more...

but it was his first game after the injury.....so probably this was the reason...

Oh and Mark...I think even if we get knocked out soon.....this country will still be happy about all this happening here...

Hehe and one great thing about the german team is that they can be really affected by their fans.....they know that a whole nation is standing behind them and supporting them...

and this influences them....and they turn into fighters...

even if they do not play the best football....

Have you seen the news? The England fans have taken over the centre of Nuremburg!!:P

There are England flags covering the town square!!

Nuremburg is now under English rule!!:laugh3:

How good i don't live there:p

As long as they are peaceful it is OK!

Your Kaff is next. I hear the fans are going to stop there on their way from Nuremburg to Cologne!!:P

What a game! A golden ball came in the last minute! That's football, man!

If Germany aint the best team, i think at least it's the most amazing team!

i'm wishing to see the Italians and Germans in the final!

yaaaay, the game was exciting (especially the second half)!!! :D

we had so many chances to score some goals but we like to have an exciting gam and that's why we made the decision in the last minutes :P

however, the polish team didn't have a single chance ---

the defence is much better now ... but what was wrong with schweini and poldi?!

they weren't very strong at all ...especially schweinsteiger ... :dozey:

but once again ... Philip Lahm just rocked the damn game :)

he was so good and very focussed...!!!

yay, i looooove the german team ...

Yep....Lahm played really well again..and Peer(is written like that?) Mertesacker was great too!

i heard Chelsea offered more than 10M pounds for Lahm

correction: pounds not euro

Oh no.....this would be bad...he should stay in Bayern....he was born there..so he should stay there!

Money talks, and if Chelsea want, they usually get!!;)

^Yeah...yeah we'll see what happens:wink:

Well they've already snatched Ballack!;)

Ok...at the end of first phase, we have:

1. Brazil: several problems of tattic solution, but Kakà it's good

2. Spain: very very good

3. Italy: very good, i hope the guys will win the cup

4. France: what a delusion!

5. Argentina: ok but Messi is out

6. Holland: good but i wait for the match against Argentina

7. Germany: not bad but not very good

8. Poland: shit!

Messi isn't out, he will play tomorrow. at least some minutes as a substitute. the injury he got during yesterday's training wasn't serious

Yes Lineker said it! It's a big scandal and so typical for the BBC...

Well Ecuador and Germany have reached the next round. :nice: On Tuesday I will see both teams in Berlin. Ecuador was my favourite besides Germany in this group. Their game against Costa Rica was incredible.

By the way, it's very hot in Nürnberg. Another excuse for the English squad?! :P
