July 11, 200619 yr Author I have to admit that I thought about it to when hearing that Thom Yorke releases a solo album' date=' but.. Can you imagine Bono doing a solo album? I can't! And I can't imagine Chris singing solo either..[/quote'] I can imagine Bono doing a solo album, and it would look something like this.... http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1645629&highlight=bono+solo#post1645629 ;)
July 11, 200619 yr He could go Ben Folds style, but I dunno how good of a multi-instrumentalist Chris is... (drums???) I wouldn't mind seeing him go solo...so long as he stayed with Coldplay, of course. ;)
July 11, 200619 yr i don't think he should go solo...i can't see him creating more than an average pop album
July 11, 200619 yr you are wrong Nik,if he will do solo that would be nice ,but probably in 2010 or then later Coldplay cannot breathe without him and who said that he will do it?
July 11, 200619 yr I would buy it, and knowing how much a perfectionist Chris is as a musician and song writer, it would be a brilliant album. However, I couldn't imagine Chris doing it. We all know how much he loves Jonny ;) (and Guy and Will of course, but moreso Jonny hehe). I just can't imagine him making music without the other three. It just wouldn't be right and I think that's how he would feel. Only time will tell in the end.
July 11, 200619 yr ^ Actually... there's alot of truth in that statement. I don't think Chris would ever have the balls to make a solo album. That's not a bad thing either. The man worries so much and is so incrediably insecure, that if he ever broke away from his three best mates in the entire world and made an album, he'd probably go mad with the pressure and criticism and all the like. I just can't see Chris doing that. Yes, he is talented enough to do so, but like he's said before, he's just "one cog in a huge machine". He can't function properly without the rest of the band. He'll write the song, usually with Jonny, bring it to Guy and Will... Guy adds a bass and other misc. details and Will adds his part and tells Chris wether it's shit or not. It's been said that if Will doesn't like it, then the song never makes it (Except for Clocks). I don't think Chris could do it without his band. Which is exactly what he's been telling people.
July 19, 200619 yr I think it'd be good if he did a kinda folky and stripped down solo album. With very little production, like all acoustic. So it is very different to the recent Coldplay albums. As for the pressure getting to him, he wouldn't even have to do it for money or anything, so forget the pressure of trying to sell it, just release it as a free download!! lol http://www.myspace.com/alexgladwin

Which is exactly what he's been telling people. well said thats exactually what i was thinking. the genius that he is, i dont think he'd be able to do it without he best friends by his side. plus he definately isnt that type of person to leave the band to do his own recording.
August 7, 200619 yr chris martin and tom chaplin (keane) doing a solo album together. now that would be worth buying!!!!!!!
August 8, 200619 yr I dont quiet like the idea that Chris Martin release a solo album. Chris' a very great singer, and his voice has some sort of magic to me. But he'll definitely lose his magic if he goes solo.
August 11, 200619 yr I would have thought that Chris saying "I'm s**t on my own" would mean he won't be doing a solo album :S I also can't imagine how he'd explain his reasoning for going solo - "I felt the time was right to do my own thing". Even though all friends need time apart, I just can't imagine this happening, knowing how close C,G,J,W are. I don't mind musicians/singers doing there own thing if a band splits, like The Verve/Richard Ashcroft... but hearing that Nicole from Pussycat Dolls (please don't laugh at this example!) is already planning on going solo must really piss off the other girls no matter how much they say "We love each other and want the best for her".
August 11, 200619 yr Some solo careers have never quite caught the same spirit as former bands...I love Morrissey, but he's not the same without Jonny Marr. I think a Chris solo album would be cool...but without Jonny-boy it would lose something...and yeah, iWill and Guy are as important to Coldplay's sound as Chris and Jonny. But if he ever did a solo album, you asked who I'd like to hear him collaborate with...Hey Chrissey-poo!! Check this out!!! http://traciemorgan.ca LOLOL!!! I wish!
August 17, 200619 yr I would actually like to see what he could come up with on his own. I like the idea of him doing an acoustic album, with just a guitar or piano, I think it would be beautiful. I love the acoustic version of Yellow. I don't think it would hurt the band, he could still make more great albums with them. :D
August 17, 200619 yr I would most certainly like to hear chris martin do some solo stuff...I am a lover of acoustic guitar and he is fantastic on piano...so anything that involved that would be great. If you saw his interview on enough rope with Andrew Denton chris believes there is still a lot of work that needs to be done on the bands music and they want to take it to the next level (even though it is amazing already) so i couldnt imagine him doing any solo stuff in the meantime but if he finds the time then im all for it. Cheers, Mitch
August 19, 200619 yr Really, I don't think so. Coldplay is perfect, joined! it would be the end of the world :\
August 23, 200619 yr No, I don't think so either. Solo projects is where all the trouble starts. Next thing you know the band is a distant memory.
October 4, 200619 yr He's trying to make the rest of the band a backing track as it is, so he shouldn't go to the next step.
October 4, 200619 yr Of course not. He wouldn't be half as good as Coldplay. You need all the elements to make Chris what he is. Coldplay is not Chris Martin, remember this. Coldplay is Jonny, Chris, Will and Guy.
October 8, 200619 yr I do't think so. IMO, Chris is part of Coldplay and it wouldn't be the same on his own. In the same way that I'd hate to see Stipe, Bono, Ed Ved,etc doing one, I think it'd be a bad idea.
January 13, 200719 yr no, no, and no. Chris is a part of coldplay and i think he mustn't go from coldplay. we love him cos he is in band:)
February 10, 200719 yr "it'd be cool. heh. something like see you soon would rock." It'd be awesome! :)
