Best Media Player

Featured Replies

What's a good free media player other than the norm (Itunes, Windows Media)? I am so sick of those.

Quicktime? Realplayer?

Realplayer is a rid-off. If you get the free verison you have adverts saying to upgrade to the paid-for verison, some features are limited and you have no support.

iTunes is the best media player which is free. Winamp is also good acording to some people

best media player now

windows media player 11 is so good i think !! no ? :)

I tried Realplayer but I couldn't stand the ads. Onto winamp......

And if I fail at all these I'll try Ituens again.

But how do you erase a whole Itunes library?

I just pressed delete, although Itunes wasn't open and I was just typing in this.

ie. I need more specifics......but nevermind actually, I don't really care, I'll find a way if I have to.

^That's the reason I asked about it, because I was using Mediamonkey and it was great but I didn't realise it was just a trial thing and it ran out :cry:

I think I am too much of a plain and simple kid

Windows Media Player is designed to be able to interact with many things you encounter online and such.

Like watching videos and radio stations (on winamp too..but not with as much emphasis and pizzaz.

and on things like MSN messenger, you can let people see what you are listening to and such.

It's all about the add ons.

But since this is a place for personal imput...

I like a media player that will just give me a home for my music, let me organize it well...not too many add ons...

(and a place to load and look up lyrics.

Winamp does all of this and a few other things on my "you have to be this" list.

I just want it a bit more simple and not all tied up.

I don't want to see flashy colors playing all over the place when I am listening to music.

And I don't really care for the add ons that Windows Media Player offers.

I mean, I have and use both from time to time..but if it came to getting rid of one..it would be Windows Media Player

I always used Windows Media Player...

I think that is the best,and Winamp too.

If you have a Mac, iTunes is the way to go. Not only is it integrated into the whole Mac interface almost unnoticeably, Mac's "Dashboard Widgets" provide features such as "Amazon Album Art" which looks up the current album's art from Amazon.com and applies it to the whole album, and there's even a lyric one that googles the song you're listening to and automatically applies the lyrics.

^Maybe - but iTunes is the "dark side"!!:rolleyes:

I recommend either Winamp or JetAudio Basic. They're both free and do their job. Their interface is also very neat. ;)

But if you want a truly free media player where you don't have any limitations in what you can do, get iTunes. Winamp you have limitations on the free edition

I've been using "foobar2000" for over a year now. At first I found it extremely boring. I finally got over the steep learning curve, and learned how to customize the player. Most geeky audiophiles swear by it. They have a pretty helpful forum too. It is very light on resources as well.

Foobar2000 is an advanced audio player for the Windows platform. Some of the basic features include full unicode support, ReplayGain support and native support for several popular audio formats.

Features

* Audio formats supported: MP1, MP2, MP3, MP4, MPC, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC / Ogg FLAC, WavPack, WAV, AIFF, AU, SND, CDDA.

* Full unicode support.

* Advanced tagging capabilities.

* Support for transcoding all supported audio formats using the Converter component (requires external commandline encoder executables for different output formats).

* ReplayGain support - both playback and calculation.

* Customizable keyboard shortcuts.

* Open component architecture allowing third-party developers to extend functionality of the player.

I'm trying that out now, it's not much to look at though is it?

And I've tried getting JetAudio but I think I must be clicking the wrong thing, even though it says the free version because it sends me to some subscription page where I have to pay.

I'm not sure about the lyric one, but you can get widgets, including the album art one, on PC.

Yahoo Widgets - widgets.yahoo.com

Don't let the Yahoo bit put you off, was formerly Konfabulator, bought over by Yahoo, but still great program.

And @ Rundle : http://www.download.com/JetAudio-Basic/3000-2167-10013740.html?part=dl

Is probably what you are looking for.
