Best Decade of Modern Music

Featured Replies

In order my preference would be:

1990's

1960's

2000's

1970's

1950's

1980's

The 80's were just terrible for everything except metal.

The 80's were just terrible for everything except metal.

Oh man, I agree.

U2's work in the 80s was good!!!! And i know there is some 80s love ballads out there you like but hate to admit it......but yeah there was A LOT of crap in the 80s as well, but the good music outweighs it...so therefore I'd say 80s was good for music

The 1980s had plenty of awesome music!!! Gunners, R.E.M, Gunners, Bon Jovi, Gunners, Crowded House and heaps more! My brain is moosh at the moment, I can't seem to think of many but there are some great ones! :P

80's because a very good piles of bands and solistas was born. The time and the fashion of 80's, the programs of Tv...was a good time, although i did not live at that time

The 80's for me.

Woo... I did not mean to click on the 2000's. :P

Yeah sure :wink3:

The 1980's

Honestly, though, who doesn't enjoy listening to hip-hop artists such as... nevermind.

And who could forget these great artists: James Blunt, Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears... I would go on, but it would get worse.

The 2000's have given birth to a new kind of music, and that music would be called bad music. =O

That's just not true, people always try to make current decade worse than it is.

Hey you've got internet, it was never so easy to get a hold of good music.

I'll go with the 90's (awesome Pink Floyd album, The Verve, Radiohead, Oasis)

But I also like 60's, 70's and 2000's very much.

The only decade i dont like so much are the 80's.......

1990's there were many great bands that time..but i am surprised not many voted for 2000's because we have coldplay/ radiohead/ muse/ snow patrol..and much more.

It depends on tastes and countries... for example generally people in Spain thinks that the best music decades were 1970 and 1980 only, juar in our country...

but interesting thread.

I think that, possibly, the best albums have been made this century, but so many great artists spawned in the 90's that are at their peak now, so 90's!

I've never enjoyed music more than the music that's been released from the year 2000 and on.

*just went out and bought 5 new albums, haaaa*

I see each decade as:

50's: Beginnings of Rock and Roll, probably the best time for Blues and Jazz. (IMO)

60's: AWESOME! birth of rock, Psychadelica, hippie movement, first great songwriters, The Beatles , beginnings of heavy metal (Cream)

70's: Rock music at it's peak, Zeppelin, Sabbath, AC/DC etc, birth of punk (good punk), introduction of pop.

80's:\: Pop is in full swing (joy), birth of Hip Hop, Dance music, electronic music (thank God that has advanced since then), metal is at its peak. Birth of grunge towards the end.

That decade is so recognisable, definitely in the pop section, it is just so terrible.

90's: Destruction of big-hair rock (thankyou Kurt Cobain:wink2:), best time for Grunge, Indie/Alternative excellent at this point, birth of britpop, Most experimental era besides the 60's. Good hip-hop :shocked3: (At least at the start), all round, pretty darn nice.

00's: Introduction of good electronica, Emo , Indie becoming hugely popular, A whole bunch of music (thanks to the internet.)

Not many defining genres (as of yet.)

But that is just my opinion and I'm sure everyone's differ.
