As some of you may have heard, there is a lot of speculation that Jay-Z is coming back from retirement to release a new album. Kanye West, the Neptunes and Timbaland have all indirectly admitted to having worked with the legend over the past few months. Other producers on the album are said to be Scott Storch and Dr. Dre. The album is speculated to be called: "Presidential Gala" "Presidential" or "Kingdom Come".

 

Now here's the crazy news: rumour has it that Chris Martin has produced one of the tracks on Jay's new album! I'm very skepitcal of this, however, we do know that Chris is a big Jay-Z fan, and has talked about working with him a lot over the past 18 months, and we also know that Jay-Z has been a Coldplay fan for years.

 

It would make for an amazing rap song, something along the lines of "Dry Your Eyes Mate" (Streets) meets "All Good Things Come to an End" (Nelly F).

Apparently the name of the song is "Beach Chair."

 

(According to the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly due to hit stands on Monday)

 

The album is going to be called "Kingdom Come." (Very Coldplayesque lol)

I'm really sorry to say that, but - I don't like these news =/ I can't stand Jay-Z and even though I think it's cool that Chris tries different things, he should get out of that hip hop business now :P Kanye West is different, he's not that normal kind of rapper, he's got awesome songs, but Jay-Z - I'm not too fond of him :(

I don't care for Jay-z either, but it's good that Chris has interest in other forms of music and he is willing to step out of his boundaries and explore a little. He is so talented and this is just another example of his amazing talent!

i just read this on the offical site. it's great and i cannot wait to hear it. when chris starts writing, magical things happen. i'm very curious to the end result and what other cp style has gone into kingdom come. i like jay-z who i've started to like through beyonce who i adore, and his music is pretty good. he's very talented. going to his concert in october too :nice:

The twosome have actually been holed-up in a studio, where Chris is helping to produce and co-write Jay-Z’s comeback album Kingdom Come.

 

“But didn’t Jay-Z say he’d stop rapping back in 2004?” we hear you cry.

According to the Sun, the album is a collaboration both fans of Coldplay and Jay-Z would like to hear, with Mr Gwyneth Paltrow proving he really is ‘down with the kidz’.

 

A source said: “Chris has been a huge hip-hop fan for years and is really switched on to the scene in America. “He was approached by Jay-Z and jumped at the chance to work with him so he could test himself as a hip-hop producer. He loves a challenge and this has arrived at the perfect time, during a break from Coldplay.”

 

Chris will be among some of hip-hop’s finest producers working on the album, including Kanye West, Timberland and Dr Dre.

 

No reason to be intimidated then. They’re only the biggest stars of American hip-hop - Crystal-sipping, Jacobs-wearing, lady-loving gansta-rappers. While Chris, bless him, is a yoga loving, ginger-faced, wimpy, eternal student.

The news with Kanye West only came up one month ago and it said that the song will be featured on Kanye's next album NEXT YEAR - it's gonna happen, we just gotta wait a bit ;)
