Chris Martin rhymes for Jay-Z

 

Chris Martin has recorded a hip-hop track with Jay-Z. The Coldplay frontman - famous for penning melodic hits - sang the vocals on the yet unnamed hip-hop tune for the rapper's new album.

 

Chris was reportedly so impressed with the urban sounds that he decided to try his hand at mc-ing, but his efforts will not be featured on the album.

 

A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Jay taught him a verse and he was recorded doing about a minute of it.

 

"It's not for Jay's album, it's just a bit of fun. Chris loved it and had a

 

laugh holding the microphone like a rapper and grabbing his crotch while he was rhyming."

 

Despite getting snubbed by Jay-Z, Chris's rap has turned out to be a hit

with the New York club scene, where the sample has been welcomed by rap fans. The source added: "It's now on a mix-tape doing the rounds in New York."

 

Chris - who is married to actress Gwyneth Paltrow - has previously also collaborated with Kanye West and the Streets rapper Mike Skinner.

^ What the hell are you talking about? :P Of course I watched the videos, they're just a little blurry, but I absolutely love Gwyneth's voice when she sings backing vocals for Jay-Z :D It's a pity that Chris only sings a few lines in this one song and only plays the piano in the other..

Beyoncé Knowles has been left red-faced after getting drunk at Jay-Z’s after-show party two nights ago. The ‘Crazy In Love’ singer was partying and downing champagne all night at the $180,000 bash at London’s exclusive Mo*vida nighclub. However, after yet another glass of vintage Dom Perignon the singer - dressed in a figure-hugging emerald dress - had to be helped to her chauffer-driven car by minders, as she was too intoxicated to walk.

 

An onlooker said: “Beyoncé is usually ultra composed, but at the party she was having a really fun time. It was strange to see her make such a shaky exit.” Jay-Z - who wowed his fans at a sell-out Royal Albert Hall concert before the party - was left unfazed by his fiancée’s ungraceful departure and joked: “Beyoncé was like a green whirl on the dancefloor.” Meanwhile, Gwyneth Paltrow surprised fans by joining Jay-Z on stage during his show, to provide backing vocals for ‘Song Cry’ in front of the 5,500-strong audience.

 

British based radio DJ G Money, who was at the event, said: “She was a bit nervous but her performance was really excellent. People were like, ‘Who is this chick that’s in the spotlight?’ “Then Jay-Z said, ‘I want people to wish a happy birthday to my good friend Gwyneth Paltrow’. “Everyone was like, ‘Are you for real?’”

 

Gwyneth’s husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, also made an appearance on stage to perform his untitled collaboration with Jay-Z from the rapper’s new album ‘Kingdom Come’. He also joined Jay-Z - who was backed by a 30-piece all-girl orchestra - for his classic tune ‘Heart of the City’ from his 2001 record ‘The Blueprint’.

anytime i think of gwyneth or chris, the more convinced i am that they are perfect for each other. they were truly made for each other. i love it.

i'm also a fan of jay-z and beyonce. i saw the finale tour of destiny's child when they came here and it was amazing. coldplay was better...obviously :rolleyes: lol and this oct i will be seeing jay-z in concert..ahh, can't wait.

once again, thanks for the pics. i really love the fact these two parties are getting closer.

So true! When I heard about the news, I wasn't too happy about it (you can read that in my first post of this thread as well :P), but now I really like the fact that they collaborated and I'm starting to get into Jay-Z's stuff in general :D

This is gr8 news i've always liked Coldplay and Jay-Z (cuz he's straight with the ROCK) and I always thought it was a weird combo but since chris is also interested in Jay-Z i kinda feel brilliant for liking them both! That album is gonna be off the hook!!!:smug:

Even during his supposed retirement, Jay-Z was still the biggest hip-hop artist around: a guest appearance became a highly sought-after commodity within the hip-hop world. His new album, reportedly titled Kingdom Come, is sure to be the biggest hip-hop record of the year.

 

The packed house is on its feet even before Jay opens with "What More Can I Say" from 2003's The Black Album. He then performs "Public Service Announcement", before being joined by his longtime hypeman Memphis Bleek for "U Don't Know", "99 Problems", "Hovi Baby" and "Is That Your Chick".

 

The nearly two-hour show really begins to come alive when the guest artists arrive. Nas runs on to the opening strains of "Made You Look", and performs "If I Ruled The World" and "Hate Me Now" before Jay returns for a symbolic handshake with his former adversary. Nas remains on stage to help out with "Dead Presidents". After Jay raps the first verse, Kelis's husband shouts the chorus that Jay sampled from his song "The World Is Yours", before performing the first verse from the same song. Hearing these tunes from the mid-Nineties is a reminder of just how long these two have been around. The fact that Coldplay's Chris Martin plays the famous piano sample live only adds to the sense of occasion. Gywneth Paltrow's appearance is the real surprise of the evening. She belts out the chorus to "Song Cry", showing off a surprisingly good voice. The crowd go wild again.

 

After Jay and Bleek perform a few more songs, it is Beyoncé's turn to dazzle. Backed by three dancers, she perfectly recreates all the moves from her "Crazy In Love" video, before she and Jay move onto a shortened version of her recent hit "Déjà Vu". While Beyoncé's moves during "Crazy In Love" are certainly impressive, her Tina Turner-esque dancing towards the end of "Déjà Vu" is truly a sight to behold. The fact that she moves so quickly in the highest heels only makes it all the more impressive.

 

After the tribute to hip-hop's dead artists (Biggie, Tupac, Big L, Jam Master Jay), Martin returns for the chorus of "Heart of The City (Ain't No Love)" and sounds soulful indeed. "Encore" lives up to its name, ending an amazing night.

 

This is the first time a major hip-hop gig has been held at the Royal Albert Hall. It's fairly likely that at least half of the audience is here for the first time. Jay-Z aptly comments on the opulent surroundings just before he performs "Hard Knock Life". Let's hope it starts a trend.

Fans get to hear the rapper's first material in three years

 

Jay-Z's new single 'Show Me What You Got' has leaked online.

 

The track, the rapper's first solo material since announcing his retirement shortly after the release of 2003'S 'The Black Album', features a Lafayette Afro Rock Band sample most notably used in Wreckx-N-Effect's 'Rump Shaker', reports MTV.

 

The song appeared on several sites across the internet, though the rapper's label have moved to prevent it spreading.

 

The song is taken from the rapper's forthcoming album 'Kingdom Come', which is slated for release on November 27.

 

As previously reported on NME.COM it will feature contributions from Coldplay's Chris Martin, Kanye West, The Neptunes, Dr. Dre and Beyonce.
