a friend phoned me at the beginning of the gig, so i heard a lot of cheering and then madame helga and high as the ceiling. and some time later he called and let me hear movie star :D :D yay :)

Now that's my kind of music! Even better than 'Madame Helga' and most of the stuff on their latest disc, and that's saying a lot.

And it's currently being beaten by the Distillers...now that Snow Patrol has lost its momentum. *wants the 'Phonics to win so is cheating to sway the votes* http://www.t170.com

 

Question: Is it going to be on an upcoming album? (<<already?) Or was it just such a good demo that they decided to release it on its own?

Yeah, it's a fantastic tune :D I can't understand most Phonics fans who don't like it. I think it's wicked.

And the Phonics are re-releasing YGGTTCB (like they did with JEEP), including Movie Star and another track, I think :smug:

True :D YGGTTCB is the only Phonics album I don't have so I'm waiting for the second edition now (although you can get the CD over Amazon.co.uk for £5 now! £5!!!!! :o)

Saw them on CD:UK this morning. Sounded quite good. Used to love the phonics, specifically Kelly :D Went through a could not listen to them stage :( (long story) But listening to them again recently, and Kelly's still the same ;) :cool:

Up until about 2000 Phonics were my favourite band... but I think they've lost the original 'zing' appeal.. in my opinion only!

 

I don't like any of their new stuff :confused: .

I've seen them live a few times, when they absolutely ROCKED!!

But the last time I saw them in 2002.... I thought they were, well, they were, ah, pants *shrug*

Nothing will compare to the likes of "Word Gets Around" and "Performance and Cocktails"... I personally think the guys should quit while they're ahead.

Aww... I love their new material :( 'Maybe Tomorrow' is one of my favourite songs ever. It got me hooked on the Phonics from the first place.

Their new material is different from their own stuff, but they still rock and 'Moviestar' is an example of this.

Kelly's voice is so monotonous on the new stuff when compared with the timeless songs such as "Traffic", "A Thousand Trees" and "Bartender and the Thief".

What do people think of the new single?...I liked it from my first listen. They seem to have taken an influence from the bands that have taken influence from 80's music. Kelly Jones' voice has some effects on it, and it no longer sounds like you want to cough for him, although,i did get used to that on the first 2 albums, which i like. I hope they're going to become good again.
