I have currently got IE but i am woundering wether to update to firefox. I have noticed some of you use firefox so all I want to know is whats the difference? Do all the web pages work on firefox? And have you had any problems using firefox?

Right, IE is shite.

Advantages of switching to firefox, apart from the massive increase in security are:

Tabbed Browsing, instead of having several windows open in your task-bar you have just the one window with tabs. It's a very easy userface to use and you can custom it with all the plug-ins available.

There are a few websites which don't work in firefox these days, the most notable being microsoft's windows updates and several others. And I personally ain't had any problems using firefox (says the person currently running firefox 2 beta)

What do you mean by windows updates?

If you have XP, there is a page on the microsoft site where you can check for any updates to XP (security, drivers etc).

If you have a dodgy verison of XP which won't pass their stupid geniune advantage program you don't have to worry.

Right cos i've just had a pop up from my taskbar saying windows was updating which it does every now and then. The logo is a yellow/ glod shield with a key hole. That will still happen if i used firefox?

Sorry i'm not the best person with the techincal side of the internet.

Firefox rocks!! It's the only way to go!!;)

Firefox is my savior.

agreed

I still have version 1.5.0.7...which are the relevant differences with the new one? :)

I am pro-Firefox. =thumbs up= Very smooth and gives me little trouble. I had to reformat several times because of IE's lack of security. Firefox keeps me protected. <3

I also love Firefox. You can change the skins too to make it look even more snazzy! My fave feature is the tab windows though, makes everything so much quicker and neat!

I downloaded the new version but the "Bookmarks" function wasn't working, so I've changed back to 1.5

As it isn't the finished product (well nearly finished as it's post beta but a "Release Candidate") it still has a couple bugs, but the major improvements are:

Built-in phishing protection (http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/its-a-trap.html)

Better bookmark management

Better search engine bar management

Improved Tabs (You can reopen tabs which you close by mistake)

Spell Check

Improved Add-Ons management :)

The problem is, the "bookmark" function isn't yet working.;)

It didn't when I tried it.

I'm happy with firefox and i think the tabbing is nifty and i do love the search bar where you can change search engines.

I have google.co.uk, wikipedia, amazon.co.uk & bbcnews.co.uk as search engines on my search bar :)
