2006, good or bad?

Featured Replies

For me, it's been the best year for music as long as I've been into music.

I'm just listening to Jet's album on their myspace. It's amazing. I love it. But it's not like it's a great album amongst loads of poor ones. This summer has been brilliant for music.

The Strokes started it off for me in January with First Impressions of Earth and I was hooked on that for a while... Stereophonics came out with Live from Dakota which also got a lot of playtime. But it's been the past 3 months where it's been really strong.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium is brilliant and Muse's new album was equally as good, and I didn't listen to Muse before I heard that album. And more recently I've been listening non stop to Kasabian's Empire, Milburn's debut and now Jet.

And anyways, this Jet album just got me talking to a few mates about how this year has been really good album wise for me.

What's it been like for everyone else?

well i discovered Sigur Ros and their albums this year, and it opened a whole total new world for me. so idd say it was a brilliant year.

For me 2006 was the year of Radiohead (I bought OKC, The Bends and Kid A late last year), so for music it was an absolutely excellent year.

Omg :stunned: pretty much the same , i realy loved the new muse cd the strokes the red hot ones and Kasabians .. it was a good year , but not as good as last year , at least for me

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium is brilliant...

...in being one overly long pile of cow shite

2006 is a good year. there was still no outstanding albums like Illinois 1 or Funeral 2 years ago, but still many great albums have been released this year so far

Destroyer, Liars, TV On The Radio, Thom Yorke, Guillemots, Ratatat, Yo La Tengo etc.

2006 was a great year for music!

I've discovered Radiohead, new David Gilmour album and tour (finally), new Richard Ashcroft album and a fantastic Thom Yorke album.

Oh man this year was amazing. Here are my favourite albums of the year:

Snow Patrol - Eyes Open...I just discovered them this year.

Thom Yorke - The Erase...and I still don't own a Radiohead album but I love this guy

Black Holes&Revelations - Muse - These guys are friggin awesome

Stadium Arcadium - Chili Peppers - One of the weak albums of the year for me but its still awesome

Keane - Under The Iron Sea - love it

Razorlight - Razorlight ....awesome 2nd album that took a while to like

Audioslave - Revalations...ditto, took a while to like

hmm i've been kinda disappointed this year - sure i loved muse and guillemots album but for me there hasn't been that many really good albums

That's a point. "Under The Iron Sea" is fab!!;)

For me this was a fucking great year :

- I discovered Radiohead and bought all albums this year

- Thome Yorke's The Eraser is wonderful

- David Gilmour : On An Island

- Archive : Lights

- Placebo : Meds

- Of course Muse's Black Holes And Revelations is amazing.

And a special mension to P.U.L.S.E DVD : the best live ever.

I'd say it was a pretty good year for music. Not as good as 2005 though. I actually dont really like First Impressions of Earth. The first 6 songs are good, and it goes downhill from there.

Tool- Disappointing 10,000 days.

Muse- Great cd. I listen to it every day

Thom Yorke- I actually like this cd a lot.

Audioslave:Revelations- It took me a couple of days, but since then I think its their 2nd best album. Nothing can beat their debut.

RHCP- I really, really love Stadium Arcadium. A couple of misfires on each cd, but TONS of great songs.

Jet- Shine On is a little different but I like it as well

Beck- The Information isnt as good as guero, but it is in the same vein, and has some pretty good songs on it.

The Killers- I hated their first cd, but I liked when you were young, so decided to check out the full cd. I like a couple songs, but the slower ones are retarded. The title track is the best on the album.

Keane- Under the Iron sea is allright. I stopped listening to it after 2 weeks.

What I'm really looking forward to are the new incubus (11/28) and deftones (10/31)cds

and it is going to get SO much better tomorrow when "The Crane Wife" by the Decemberists comes out.

well i just got introduced to Muse and i love them. i've also heard a few other bands from the UK, and they're all pretty good. BUT stadium arcadium is definitely one of my picks of 2006 though it isn't quite over yet....

So far 2006 has beenn a pretty good musicyear.. not as good as 2005 but still.

The Strokes released an album I hated at first but that I love now.

Arctic Monkeys released their debut, which led me to fall in love with We Are Scientists.

Regina Spektor released a masterpiece as did Keane.

Dirty Pretty Things blew my mind.. as to be expected.

And Thom Yorke did something I actually enjoy quite a bit.

So far, so good..
