He's basically saying it's going to take as long as it's going to take. There is no set time.

 

Now five years is a long, long time. I doubt all four of them will be sitting around for that long w/o any kind of creative juices flowing.

Exactly...there will be side projects etc. I'm willing to wait as long as they are. By the end of the Twisted Logic Tour, it really looked like the guys were exhausted. They need and deserve a break...and so do their families.

well if they need 5 years they need 5 years i dont mind as long as we get an album eventually..

Although I agree that we can't really instantly beleive what Chris says, I do think they need a break, and Chris did say 'if it takes five years', not that it will take five years. It could be very good for them in my opinion. And they do deserve a nice long break. but five years? Who knows? I think that was what Chris was trying to say.

 

But the comment about the managers is inaccurate. Yes, EMI representatives would get antsy and probably a little ticked off, but they can't just force the band into the studio, and even if they did, that doesn't mean anything would come out of it. If they wanted to take a 30 years hiatus, the record company has to comply with it.

yeah...well said. I don't really know what to say, everyone else here did a good job. um, we've had them for almost two years with X&Y and the tour, i'm sure their families would like to spend some time with them too :rolleyes: .

Some record deals call for a band to release a certain number of records in a certain period of time...but even if that were the case, the guys have alot of un-released material from X&Y, as well as vaults full of other songs...they could fulfill that kind of contract with plenty of time to have a life...everyone wins!

Hey, look how long the Beatles went on, or Queen, or The Stones, or U2! Coldplay has plenty of time to make albums. They're not here for our pure enjoyment. They have lives of their owns ;)

hm i wouldn't count on this being official news, if it was Debs or someone would've made it clear or would clarify things now, but nothing's happened and we're all jumping to conclusions, as we do :rolleyes: but that's interesting.

 

if they did take 5+ years off, that is completely fine with me, they do deserve it and i'm sure that although they wouldn't release an album, maybe EPs etc, maybe. they wouldn't lose me as a fan, i don't see the logic in fans no longer staying fans because of a 5 year break, that isn't even a reason imo.
