well' date=' IMO, there would be a [i']main, long, full review[/i] and other contributors would only post some notes on this album in 1-2 sentence with a rank.

well, at the end we'd get an average of the ranks and post it.

the main idea, imo, is that coldplaying could become a source for people if they are searcing for new music ;)

That post pretty much summed it up.

A proble: Where are we gonna put the reviews? It would start to get messy if we have a new thread for each review. Should we do one thread per week? or maybe request a sub-forum?

All I know is that I really want a locked - Sticky - archive thread, where all the reviews and final scores are added in different posts, With a table of contents at the start, so if you are looking for a particualr album, you can find it there with links to the individual posts.

Something like this would be nice....what bothers me most is:

Will it be spam saved?

ha....

btw......yes Miguel I could have guessed that haha...;)

ah ok....

we can exchange links through PM, MSN, e-mail etc.

i thought, we reviewers, should be in contact daily.

i have an oink account (torrent site where everything leaks) + some other sources like forums or other torrent sites. so i think if something "new" arrives, i'd know about that immediately

that would be really great, if we'd review so-called "hot albums" which are really fresh (leaked albums for example). people would be interested, i guess

i like the idea with a sticky archive thread. though, it should not be locked, because we, normal members, couldn't edit posts then :P

i also like the suggestion about starting a new thread for every album/2 albums daily. that doesn't require too much space, anyway.

Well, we could attempt to get Ian to edit the final posts etc. into the thread. It would just be annoying if it wasn't locked because it would get filled with spam.

well, yes it would. but probably we could link the "review threads" to the first post? and then that sticky topic would be a "general discussion of reviews + suggestions etc." one, dunno...

Nik has already raised the bar pretty high with his speak of new album + classic album, and I think that I can't do this. A definition of classic album would be an oldish album that is widely considered as great. I am good with this stuff, but I wouldn't want to do a review on a 'classic' album every week. And I'm terrible with new stuff. I think I have about 3 albums from 2006. And then, what happens to all the other stuff? the underrated hidden gems etc?

Here's some ideas.... we have people (such as Nik) whose job it is to review new albums. (Although you can still do others.)

or

We could have themed weeks. '90's albums', 'Pop week' wtc.

or

we could just do whatever we feel like. (Although this would lead to a bunch of reviewd of albums people like.)

Suggestions? Surely I'm not the only one that rarely listens to new music.

That would work.

well, i kinda tried to recommend new music in my recommendation thread, didn't really work :( of course i got some nice replies but mainly for more known stuff like Sufjan or Damon Albarn.

the "new bands" didn't really get too much attention, i think :dozey: so yes, it will be hard...

well, i don't know i would probably stick to the new stuff theme :\ i can take 3 new albums per week then, if it helps

but i agree on the general theme of classic reviews, that could work (90s albums, pop week etc.). we could review some classics. underrated and overrated, both.

if people are willing to discover new music, this thread will be succesful, don't worry. we just need contributors

You me exposing us to a new album every week? Oh what a horrible idea!

I love it..I don't think I could be a full contributor, but I would be a regular note writier!

I would like to contribute. There may be a few weeks around exam time where my time will be limited. I've actually been planning on writing some reviews of albums for my blog, so it is definitely something I would be interested in doing.

Just PM and let me know how I can help.

i wanna be a reviewer! im not sure how eloquently i'd write tho.. :P

Oh sounds like a great idea!!!

OK, this is how I'm gonna do it. I will draw up a timetable but it won't be a repeating thing. People will have to sign there names for any slot that they want. So, just because they do it one Monday, doesn't mean they do it any other Monday, unless they sign up for another Monday. Get me?

I have the updated timetable in the first post. And yes, I am plannign on doing a review by tomorrow, to get the ball rolling.

I think for the first week, we'll just have anything goes, review whatever you want, and see what happens. I'm just afraid that the idea of others giving small comments etc. for each album will fail because noone will actually listen to it. But, we can figure something else out, if that doesn't work.

^^Yeah could be a bit tricky...but I'm in...that's if you want me... I do come on here everyday.

Can you do a review by Tuesday?

I really like this idea Sam! Reading reviews from 'normal people' are always a lot more interesting then from professional reviewers. And that whole theme-week thing sounds great and maybe one or two people could listen to new leaked albums and review them as well...

Anyway, sign me up!

I thought you guys want to review just random albums you think people should hear... Like, something that's not too popular but still worthful (in your opinion). Because it's really hard for many people to listen to unknown album and make a review about it, you know. But I believe Nik's got some experience in it so if he wants to review new stuff we can just forget his own thread of recommendations and check this one... And, by the way, I like the idea with 90-s week, 60-s week stuff. It will keep this thread not too chaotic

This post could also have been written by me......I mean I often would like to check out new things from this year and from the past but either I do not have that much time for it....or it's because I'm at my Dad's computer and don't want to use all his space and he often wants to use it when I'm here......however...

I also thought about how we could handle it.....what first came to my mind that we should review whatever we like.....but after thinking about it I couldn't really "make friends" with this idea....because as you said Sam....after all people will review albums they like or love....and this would be a bit too subjective (ah I alwas mix up objective and subjective so if it's wrong you know what I mean;)).....I know that I would probably be one of those who says how great they feel if they listen to it and stuff lke that....and this is not the purpose of a review....more a matter of taste...

I like this idea of pop-week, 90s stuff, maybe classical rock stuff etc....

In this case every week there could be different people who review something...I mean some are more into 90s stuff others are more into classical rock stuff....

another thing is that people need to be a lot into other similar music to the album they review.....you need comparisons.....to former albums by the same band....or to similar bands which could be influences.....when I read a review I like it if people can relate to other albums and artists....

this could be hard....hehe

okay, i can review Jarvis Cocker's "Jarvis" album which is being released tomorrow (in UK). i thought, that would be really good if people could read some reviews before they buy that album

EDITED

it's done

just say when/where should i post it :)

I might be able to do this, as long as its a thursday that I do it and I get to choose which album to do.
