So do I :smug:

Actually winter is perfect for presents. I get presents for both Christmas'es, for New Year, for New Year in old style (13th of January) and then I've got a birthday in February so I kinda love winter :cheesy:

 :P

i always get some presents for New Year, because it's kind of a tradition. rarely for christmas

i don't really have a wishlist. let's say a good music CD, book or some nice clothes would be nice presents :nice:

why do you get presents for New Year's Eve?

is it some kinda russian tradition?

well i dont really get christmas strictly speaking....

more a kinda chrismukkah thing. my mum is jewish and my dad is catholic so i get to celebrate both.

i wish...

a new 30gig ipod for all my music

and a nice digital camera

they would be good.

2.5 gig of coldplay and radiohead kinda confine a 4gig mini to not much... :P

^ahaha that's the prime example of chrismukkuh right there.

 :P

The same here, I rarely get any Christmas presents.

But no matter which holiday we celebrate, I almost always get either books or cd's. Most of the books I get are good, some of them even become my faves. But cd's... My family can never choose anything good... I guess my only wish is to not have -35 outside again :anxious:

yes, the New Year's Eve is more popular in Russia. and also by Russians who live abroad, like me.

Christmas is more religious, and it also a working day, so i guess that's why the Christmas lost it's magic in Russia, unfortunately

I just thought today:

we always get so big presents for christmas...:embarassed:

Yes we are spoiled......my little sister will get a playstation 2 and I'll get a Computer....:stunned:

mhh..., so you don't put up christmas trees and all that?

found christmas cd's in the living-room earlier today. :)

yeah, with all those songs by Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra and Bill Pinkey.

bad quality, but awesome feeling ;)

wow, Julia, those are big presents indeed.

i remember the christmas when my sister and i got a playstation (the first one though).

we went crazy because we really DID NOT expect that.

:) one of the best christmas days ever!

we don't get big presents nowadays because my mum is of the opinion that we're too old for that.

maybe she's right.

i don't want anything "big" for christmas anyway.

the last "big" thing i got was probably my guitar two years ago.

Heh well I guess it's good, isn't it? I mean, you're not spoiled, your parents just have an opportunity to buy you something you want

I guess books as presents are something like a tradition for my family. My parents think it's so nice to encourage the passion for reading and all

hehe well......I said to my mum some days ago that we get everything we want....but at the same time they always say we don't have THAT much money...her answer was that we don't have enough money for nice holidays...or things like that.....and that made me think and realize something I could have realized before:

My parents do everything for their children....obviously they can't see it if we are unhappy....especially my mum.....ok actually every parent is like that in some way...

but my mum misses some things because of us.....and I really appeciate this....I'm so thankful for this.....I mean I say I want to get a computer for christmas and I'll get one....they couldn't see me being disappointed....I'm glad I can give them those thing back with my behaviour...

It's nice to know you've got such a warm relationship with your parents, Jules  I believe it's really inportant and that's so good you all give back your love to each other

There's a famous song:

"All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth...................."!!

hehe.....and there is one thing that annoys me:

My sisters.

Especially the older one.......she is often very mean to my parents for no particular reason.....she acts typical spoiled.....maybe appreciates those ting somewhere in her mind but doesn't show it......My Dad gave up.....

but my mum still would everything for her....many many parents wouldn't do that according to her behaviour.....

maybe a fault of my mum on the one hand....but on the other hand it show what a great person she is....and I'm glad I'm more like her...in this case..

It sounds like you have a pretty big family. Speaking of Christmas, I've always wanted to have a big family, to go somewhere like.... Sweden or Finland, where you can ski all the time and drink hot chocolate and celebrate Chrismas with your parents, brothers, sisters and all and the snow is all around... So good

Im looking forward to Christmas as Im going to Devon, with my family and other family friends. Also, last year, Christmas day was pretty miserable for me as I had the flu and felt like crap.....hopefully not this year!!

Hopefully I will get a new mobile, Ive had mine for 3 years LOL.

I'd love to go skiing on Christmas Day, I did when I was in Canada in 1999...brilliant :nice:

Oh and another song:

"All I want for Christmas is yooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooouuuuu!" :D

a coldplay twisted logic tour dvd...................:\

^^Oooh I didn't even think of that! That'd be amazing...

Doesn't christmas always get more imporant and more significant for you with every christmas that passes? The christmas of 2004 was the last christmas I spend with my uncle and he was looking forward to christmas in November of last year.. He died the 30th..

I actually hate it too..it just means more work for me!!!
