Quietest Hurricane Season in 10 Years

Quietest Hurricane Season in 10 Years

Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 9:07 AM

But the beauty of global warming is that you can blame anything on it! It's just like Bush.

Warmer than usual? Global warming!

Colder than usual? Global warming!

That little irony caused the enviros to change the "it" term to "climate change."

More hurricanes than usual? Climate change!

Fewer hurricanes than usual? Climate change!

Someone accused me the other day of being "anit-science" when it comes to global warming. Nah, not anti-science, but I am pro-skepticism, and climate change fanatics really push the envelope when it comes to narratives I'm willing to buy.

The idea that every single change in the environment and weather patterns can be attributed to global warming and human activity despite the fact that we've only been measuring such changes reliably for a couple of generations is about as believable as the idea that Bush is to blame for every single unfortunate incident to befall the United States and its denizens over the past six years. Of course, it's the same people who believe both, which makes me even more skeptical of the climate change fanatics. If your neighborhood climate change activist is wearing a "Buck Fush" T-shirt, it makes him somewhat less credible.

Anyway, no matter the cause, the good news is-- fewer hurricanes:

Barring a last-second surprise from the tropics, the season will end Thursday with nine named storms, and only five of those hurricanes. This year is the first season since 1997 that only one storm nudged its way into the Gulf of Mexico...

Storms were starved for fuel after ingesting masses of dry Saharan dust and air over the Atlantic Ocean. Scientists say the storm-snuffing dust was more abundant than usual this year.

In the season's peak, storms were curving right like errant field goals. High pressure that normally hunkers near Bermuda shifted far eastward, and five storms rode the clockwise winds away from Florida.

Finally, a rapidly growing El Nino, a warming of water over the tropical Pacific Ocean, shifted winds high in the atmosphere southward. The winds left developing storms disheveled and unable to become organized.

Update: Global warming causes alarming nationwide outbreak of on-time flights over holiday weekend!

A dry and relatively mild weekend made for calm airports, railyards and roadways from Boston to Atlanta to Chicago to Dallas.

Yes, it's true that we are in a 10 year cycle of increased activitiy.

Notice that last year, when there were many large and devastating storms, 'Global Warming' was overly presented to everyone as a huge and imminent threat to all life, using the storms as evidence that 'it's just going to get worse'.

Now, this year..we hear what?...nada.

Don't get me wrong....I would actually like to have more enviromental and "human friendly" fuels used as it's an obvious health benefit to everyone.....however, the current scam of Global Warming is getting irritating. We have Climate Change and they aint anything we can do about that specific eventuality.

It's alot to do with he Solar Cycle of The Sun.

that whole section about the global warming fanatics being the same people who dont support Bush is retarded. Why would it make their arguement less credible if they are wearing a "Buck Fush" T-shirt? so what they dont care for bush or his politics, that doesnt make them any less credible. So now if you dont support Bush your arguements on anything are automatically less credible? In my opinion the person who has their "W 2000" and "W 2004" on it are less credible, because they are the ones who voted this loser into office. and secondly obviously STILL support him after all that has happened

but the rest of it is fairly decent

haha once again, because bill is so hated these days. You know that polls show that over 75% of the people wish he was back in office? so even after all the HORRRRRIBLE things he did like that "recession" and what not, people still prefer him over bush

agh nvm im not even gonna get into this again, neither of us are going to dissuade the other, why bother?

some polls yes. but americans were stupid enough to vote him in the first place. anyways americans are short term people...bill did good in the short term so they liked him...bush is doing bad in the short term, so they'd want Bill over Bush. Thats all.

Your right. I think Bush and his pals should be locked up in a cell for the rest of their lives for what they have done......yet I think global warming is a scam.....and there's many, many more people who have this view.

I can name plenty of people who think you're bigoted, biased and won't accept any opinion that's contrary to YOURS (e.g. abortion).

You don't debate - you just PREACH, which is completely wrong.;)

The worst thing of all is that you appear to think you're better than everyone else.

If you want to PREACH, go and write a blog (which nobody will read).;)

You don't "debate" at all. You just preach and hurl insults, plus your "facts" are actually propaganda. Unfortunately your head is stuck too far up your backside for you to realise it.;)

And you're so ignorant you dont realize thats what everyone does in a debate.:laugh3:

Atleast i have facts to debate with, when it comes time you turn your brain off and just throw insults and when science if presented like a true fool you just ignore it. truly pathetic
