Leeds relegated in 3 minutes

They are not relegated yet

Although they need to win against Derby by about 6-0, and Hull has to lose against Plymouth by about 5-0 for Leeds to stay up :laugh3:

In the local derby against Basingstoke Town, it was a goal-less draw, but it means we are in the Conference South playoffs to get into the Blue Square Premier. Basingstoke are saved from the drop by goal-difference.

6 way fight for those 3 remaining fizzy pop league play-off places.

Southampton against Southend, I think you will make the play-offs.

Davies rises to head Bolton level

Kevin Davies headed a second-half equaliser as Bolton left Chelsea's title chances hanging by a thread.

Davies headed in from six yards to allow Manchester United to stretch their lead to five points.

Lubomir Michalik gave the visitors the lead when he calmly shot home from close in but Salomon Kalou's superb header quickly drew Chelsea level.

The Blues went ahead when Kalou's powerful header came back off the bar, hit Jussi Jaaskelainen, and went in.

Bolton boss Sam Allardyce feared his makeshift line-up - missing six regulars and forcing him to play Ivan Campo at right-back - would struggle to contain Chelsea.

And their chances of a dull, battling draw looked slim after a frantic opening, which saw Chelsea on top.

But despite their injury problems and the news that boss Allardyce is likely to be quitting in the summer, the away side settled and took the lead after 18 minutes.

Nicolas Anelka had already blazed high and wide when he should have scored but when a Campo free-kick caused confusion in the home defence, the ball fell invitingly to giant centre-half Michalik who kept his composure to shoot home from six yards.

Chelsea's response was immediate. The impressive Wayne Bridge steamed forward on the left flank and his delightful cross was met by Kalou at the near post and expertly flicked into the far corner.

Carvalho was then forced off with a knee injury that must make his involvement in Tuesday's Champions League game against Liverpool unlikely.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho had chosen to rest Frank Lampard, Didier Dogba and Joe Cole but Carvalho's injury saw Lampard bought on and Essien revert to centre-half.

But the change did not affect Chelsea's attacking prowess.

Jaaskelainen made a fine stop to deny Shevchenko - who had earlier wasted a great early chance to put Chelsea in front - and Essien snatched a shot wide after the Bolton keeper missed a Lampard corner.

The pressure told when Kalou put the Blues ahead at half-time when he lept to head home another Lampard corner, the ball bouncing down off the bar and hitting Jaaskelianen before going over the line.

But Bolton levelled within nine minutes of the restart.

Gary Speed's free-kick saw Davies pull away from his marker Essien and the big striker rose unchallenged to head home from in front of Petr Cech.

Didier Drogba, on as a half-time substitute for Shevchenko, flashed a cross across goal and a vicious Lampard free-kick went narrowly wide.

Joe Cole soon followed Drogba and Lampard into the action but to no avail.

Bolton, recognising they were struggling to hold out, took every opportunity to attack and Andranik Teymourian flashed an effort inches over from 25 yards.

Abdoulaye Meite was fortunate to get away with a blatant handball on the edge of the area but Chelsea were unable to force a winner.

Sunderland & Birmingham are back up to the premiership next season.

In other news, Mr. Sam has decided to leave Bolton.

**************BREAKING NEWS :

Allardyce resigns as Bolton boss

Allardyce has spent 18 years at Bolton as a player and manager

Sam Allardyce has ended his eight-year reign as manager of Bolton after resigning with immediate effect.

He has been linked with the manager's role at Manchester City and refused to attend the post-match press conference after Saturday's 2-2 draw with Chelsea.

He said: "This has been one of the hardest decisions I've ever made but it's time for a new exciting era for Bolton under different leadership."

Chairman Phil Gartside added: "His reasons are private, we respect that."

Allardyce has spent over 18 years at the club, as both player and manager.

He was interviewed for the England manager's position following Sven-Goran Eriksson's departure after the World Cup last year, but was beaten to the job by Steve McClaren.

I am very sad to see him go. Thank you for eight great years, Sam

He pledged to focus on Bolton after missing out on a role he publicly stated he would "love", but steps down with two matches of the current campaign still to play.

The Trotters are currently in fifth spot and chasing Uefa Cup qualification.

"It was mutually decided that I step down now rather than at the end of the season," said Allardyce in a statement on the club website.

"That will give my successor the ideal opportunity to experience the preparation and build up of matchday in readiness of next season.

We owe it to Sam to make sure we get back into Europe. We will do our utmost to qualify for him

Kevin Nolan

"After guiding the team into a position where the club is on the verge of qualifying for European football for the second time in three years, I feel it is the right moment to step down.

"I feel the club is in a great position to continue its upward trajectory with a talented squad supported by an excellent Academy programme under the guidance of a highly-skilled management team.

"The foundations for the next phase is well and truly in place. It is with this knowledge that I feel confident that I am moving on with my life content with a legacy that I have tried to create for this special club.

"I wish the owner, chairman, staff, players and all the fans every success in the future."

BBC Sport columnist Kevin Nolan, who was handed his debut by Allardyce in 2000, who also made him club captain, said on the club website: "I'm devastated and completely shocked by the news.

"However, as disappointing as the news is, there are only fantastic times ahead for this club. We've got a terrific club and talented squad who want to achieve things.

He has helped design and build an infrastructure that will enable the club to continue the progress we have undoubtedly made during his period of office

Bolton chairman Phil Gartside

"I've got nothing but praise and respect for Sam. He's made me the player I am and has built this club.

"Now we owe it to him to make sure we get back into Europe. We will do our utmost to qualify for him."

Meanwhile, Gartside paid his own tribute to Allardyce, saying: "I have reluctantly accepted Sam's resignation after eight years of unprecedented success at the club.

"Since joining the club as manager in 1999, he has helped lead a fantastic transformation of this famous Lancashire club.

"He has helped design and build an infrastructure that will enable the club to continue the progress we have undoubtedly made during his period of office."
