Yes, oops :embarassed:

Man City have beaten Fulham 3-1, who are rather close to the bottom 3 to be comfy now.

Newcastle & Arsenal drew 0-0

Aston Villa 1-1 Wigan

and it looks like Bolton v Everton will end 1-1 as well

Foolham have sacked Chris Coleman.

really???:shocked2:

Coleman out as Sanchez takes over

Coleman had been in charge at Fulham since 2003

Fulham have sacked manager Chris Coleman and his assistant Steve Kean with immediate effect.

Northern Ireland manager Lawrie Sanchez will take over on a caretaker basis for the remainder of the season.

The Cottagers lie four points above the Premiership drop zone after a seven-game winless streak, but the sacking still comes as a surprise.

"It is disappointing that the club has no alternative but to part company [with Coleman]," read a club statement.

Interview: Irish FA president Jim Boyce

"Chris has provided a fantastic service during his 10 years at the club, but as a team and organisation Fulham Football Club has goals to attain and success to achieve - and by no means can this be compromised.

"After consultation with the Irish FA president Jim Boyce, it is agreed that Lawrie Sanchez will join as caretaker manager for the remaining five Premiership games of the season."

606: DEBATE

Give your reaction to Chris Coleman's sacking

Coleman joined Fulham as a player in 1997 in a £2m move from Blackburn, but injuries suffered in a car crash in 2001 led to his retirement less then two years later.

He took over as manager in April 2003 following the departure of Jean Tigana.

Sanchez has led Northern Ireland to the top of their European Championships qualifying group with victories over Spain and Sweden.

He also oversaw a famous 1-0 win over England in the last World Cup qualifying competition, and has pledged to see out his contract with the Irish Football Association.

The 47-year-old's first match in charge of the Cottagers will be on Saturday when they face his former club Reading.

If the rumours are to be believed and manager Jose Mourinho is kicked out of Chelsea in the summer, it will surely rank as the worst decision in the club's history.

Make no mistake - Mourinho is the best thing that has ever happened to Chelsea Football Club and in the cauldron of the Mestalla on Tuesday night, he once more showed why.

Ever since the Portuguese walked into Stamford Bridge and announced himself as the 'Special One', he has done everything possible to live up to his own hype.

Granted, the former Porto coach has not been short on funds, but ask any Real Madrid or Inter Milan fan and they will tell you hundreds of millions of pounds do not necessarily just buy silverware.

But Mourinho is a tactical genius. And so often when his players have needed inspiration from the bench, he has provided them with it.

Not only with his substitutions, but with half-time team-talks that so often wake his side out of their slumber and propel them to a performance of real merit.

One-nil down to Valencia, 2-1 on aggregate and with his team sliding out of the Champions League, Mourinho raced down the tunnel before the first half had ended to prepare his 15-minute briefing.

“He wasn’t happy,” admitted John Terry, with a classic hint of footballer’s understatement.

“We were not good enough and we got a kick up the backside. We came out and dominated.”

Mourinho withdrew the nervy Lassana Diarra and sent on Joe Cole, even though the England winger had previously played just 23 minutes of first-team football in 2007.

It was inspired, and dominate they did. Michael Essien moved to right-back and Cole buzzed around the Valencia box, causing new problems with his quick feet and unpredictable movement.

After just seven minutes, they were level. Valencia had just one shot of note in the entire second half.

Only a save that will live long in the memory from Santiago Canizares prevented Michael Ballack from wrapping it up five minutes from the end.

But then up popped Essien - yep, from right-back - to smash in at the death and confirm Mourinho's standing as currently the world's best manager.

Rumour has it that Dutchman Guus Hiddink is being lined up by the Blues’ billionaire owner Roman Abramovich when Mourinho exits at the end of the season.

Whatever Abramovich’s motives for being unhappy with his manager, he quickly needs to have a rethink.

Few managers in the history of the game have been quite as adept as Mourinho at motivating their troops and turning a lost cause into a won game.

And for those of us who follow English football religiously, he is the most constant source of entertainment in a sport that increasingly produces dour, cliché-prone individuals.

He is the modern day Brian Clough. And boy do we need him.

I just wanted to point out that I'm 6th on the Fantasy Premier League Coldplaying league.

AND I'm an American.

Manchester United maintained their advantage over Chelsea at the Premiership summit with a comfortable win against Sheffield United.

Michael Carrick put United on course for victory after three minutes, lifting Cristiano Ronaldo's pass over keeper Paddy Kenny as he raced out.

Wayne Rooney doubled the lead with an emphatic finish after 50 minutes. Michael Tonge came closest for the Blades, hitting the bar with a curling 20-yard drive two minutes from time.

United were without groin injury victim Rio Ferdinand and goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, who suffered a heavy blow to the nose in the FA Cup semi-final win against Watford. It made little difference to their early rhythm as they took the lead after only three minutes. Ronaldo, inevitably, was the prime mover in the goal, slipping in a perfect pass for Carrick to beat Kenny as he came out.

Rooney could have doubled United's lead two minutes later, but Kenny blocked bravely at point-blank range. United's defensive resources, already stretched to breaking point by injuries, suffered another casualty after 19 minutes when Patrice Evra limped off following a wild challenge by Colin Kazim-Richards.

Rooney was involved in some unnecessary incidents, and he picked up a yellow card for a reckless tackle on Phil Jagielka. But he showed the other side of his character with a goal of quite stunning quality five minutes after the break. He controlled a pass of rare vision from Ryan Giggs in an instant before lashing an unstoppable right-foot finish across Kenny.

Sheffield United's main threat came from the lively Luton Shelton, but he wasted a glorious chance to quickly peg United back, shooting over from only 10 yards. United then attempted to press home their advantage, with Kenny saving well in quick succession from Ronaldo and Giggs.

The Premiership pace-setters then had an escape with the sort of generous decision that would have reduced Sir Alex Ferguson to a seething rage had it happened at the other end. Shelton showed lightning pace to escape the United regard again before being clearly fouled by Gabriel Heinze - only for referee Rob Styles to wave play on when a spot-kick looked a formality.

Tonge then curled a shot against the bar as Sheffield United continued to battle in the face of United's overwhelming superiority.

Arsenal 3-1 Man City

_42814093_arsenal203.jpg

Arsenal moved third above Liverpool in the Premiership table after sinking hard-working Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium.

Tomas Rosicky fired the Gunners into a 12th-minute lead when he slotted home Emmanuel Eboue's right wing cross.

But City hit back when DaMarcus Beasley finished well just before the break.

The visitors looked the better side early in the second half but were undone when Cesc Fabregas and Julio Baptista netted with two fine strikes.

Arsenal went into the game fresh from their victory over Bolton which ended their longest winless run of the season.

City were themselves hitting better form, having pushed away from immediate danger thanks to a five-match unbeaten run.

City boss Stuart Pearce set his stall out by trying to get as many men behind the ball as possible but there was a sense of the inevitable when the Gunners made the early breakthrough.

Vassiriki Diaby dispossessed Darius Vassell with a crunching tackle and fed Eboue, whose whipped cross from the right was clinically despatched by Rosicky who arrived to meet the ball like an express train.

But despite losing Diaby minutes later to a head injury, Arsenal added even more firepower when Baptista was handed his chance by Arsene Wenger.

And the Brazilian was soon in the thick of the action on the half hour when he was fouled just outside the City penalty area by Richard Dunne.

The Irishman, who was the visitors' stand-out player of the half, did well though to block Baptista's 25-yard free-kick by heading over.

Fabregas then saw a superb 30-yard strike well parried by City keeper Andreas Isaksson as the Gunners continued to pile on the pressure.

But totally against the run of play, Arsenal only had themselves to blame for being pegged back to 1-1 through their own doing.

Jens Lehmann's weak clearance was intercepted by Joey Barton which enabled Johnson to thread the ball in for Beasley to finish with a cool finish.

The goal lifted the visitors and they nearly went ahead in the 44th minute when Barton danced his way passed the Arsenal defence and forcing Lehmann to save well to his right.

City started the second half as they finished the second with Arsenal looked rattled by some uncompromising tackling.

Rosicky and Fabregas, in particular, felt the force of two solid important blocks as they looked set to pull the trigger.

Wenger's side nearly retook the lead when first Emmanuel Adebayor's effort was well saved by Isaksson before Alexander Hleb flashed a left-footed strike just wide.

Adebayor was then denied twice inside three minutes - the first by a brilliant block by Sylvain Distin before Isaksson got down to keep out his powerful header.

But Arsenal's renewed pressure finally paid off in the 73rd minute when City's defending for once let them down.

The visitors failed to clear their lines and Fabregas collected a loose ball just out the box and lashed home an unstoppable volley past Isaksson.

Beasley had the ball in the back of the net at the other end three minutes later but he was ruled offside after lobbing Lehmann.

And City's brave resistance was finally ended when Hleb jinked his way into the penalty area and his cross was well converted by Baptista.

Boro dent Man Utd title chances

_42831027_viduka203.jpg

Premiership leaders Manchester United dropped two potentially costly points in the race for the title with Chelsea.

United took an early lead when Kieran Richardson slotted home after Wayne Rooney had collected Paul Scholes' pass and rounded Boro keeper Mark Schwarzer.

But in first-half stoppage time Boro deservedly equalised as Mark Viduka's diving header beat Edwin van der Sar.

United struggled to break Boro down after the break and were indebted to Van der Sar's save to thwart Viduka.

If United had had any nerves about their absorbing title duel with Chelsea they should have been dispelled thanks to Richardson's third minute goal.

Paul Scholes' raking pass took Jonathan Woodgate out of the game to release Rooney, who wasted no time in taking the ball round Schwarzer.

Rooney's final touch on the ball was a little too strong, but it made no matter as Richardson stepped in to sidefoot home.

The Old Trafford crowd could have been forgiven for expecting an avalanche of goals at this point, but Boro failed to play the role of willing lambs to the slaughter.

Belying their mid-table position, Boro were impressive following their uncertain start and dominated for long periods due to their midfield control.

Woodgate was superb for Boro, with his reading of the game at times quite imperious.

As Boro regrouped United were indebted to some brave defensive play from Wes Brown, who first tackled Yakubu and then came across to block Stewart Downing's attempted cross.

Viduka castigated Downing for not delivering his cross more quickly, but when the England international picked up on the ball on the left at the end of the first half he had clearly learned his lesson.

Downing whipped in a cross to the near post and Viduka stole in between Rio Ferdinand and Brown to send a diving header past Van der Sar.

With United due to face AC Milan in their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday, Ryan Giggs had started the game on the bench, but Viduka's goal saw the Welshman stripped and ready to go for the start of the second half.

But it was Boro who initially threatened in the second period when Viduka bamboozled Brown allowing the Australian a clear sight of goal.

This time Van der Sar got the better of Viduka, spreading himself to make a good save.

United brought on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but it was Boro who next threatened as Lee Cattermole went agonisingly close with a powerful shot.

Solskjaer did get the ball in the net, but all he earned was a booking for unsporting behaviour towards Schwarzer.

And late on United might have concede a penalty when Dong-Gook Lee went down following a John O'Shea tackle.

Newcastle 0-0 Chelsea

_42832609_mourinho203.jpg

Chelsea failed to close the gap on Premiership leaders Manchester United after a goalless draw at Newcastle.

The Blues would have been just one point behind the Reds had they won at Newcastle but never really found form and created few openings.

Frank Lampard shot over, Salomon Kalou had a tame stad at goal and Joe Cole missed by inches in injury time.

Chelsea keeper Petr Cech made a good save from Kieron Dyer, while Obafemi Martins headed over from a corner.

But in truth it was a poor game - and an especially disappointing performance from Chelsea given the opportunity that was before them.

Jose Mourinho's team rarely looked like taking advantage of United's draw at home to Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Chelsea are three points behind United, who they play on 9 May, but with a vastly inferior goal difference.

There were no clear-cut openings in the opening half, though Newcastle played with the greater sense of urgency and did create several half chances.

Kieron Dyer hooked the ball wide under pressure, while a deflected Martins strike from distance missed the target and a promising position for Stephen Carr came to nothing after he cut in from the left.

Chelsea went in to the match with Michael Ballack and Claude Makelele restored to the starting line-up.

But German Ballack limped off after 18 minutes following a heavy challenge from Titus Bramble.

The Blues did have one opening in the first-half, but John Terry headed wide from a Frank Lampard free-kick under pressure from Antoine Sibierski.

Terry cut a frustrated figure as he appealed for a penalty, claming that Sibierski had impeded his run.

Chelsea played with more endeavour and purpose after the break - and soon created an opening, though Lampard drilled the ball over from 10 yards.

Newcastle underlined their threat with two chances in a minute.

Cech smothered Dyer's shot after Nicky Butt had played him in, and from the resultant corner Martins, unmarked, headed over.

Chelsea responded, with Butt clearing up after Kalou guided the ball goalwards following a low drilled cross from substitute Joe Cole.

Mourinho introduced Andrei Shevchenko with 15 minutes remaining and the visiting team - with a great record of scoring late on - pushed forward in search of a decisive goal.

Terry's entanglement with Sibierski continued, with the Chelsea skipper cutting an increasingly frustrated figure.

Cole deflected a Paulo Ferreira cross narrowly wide in the third minute of stoppage time as Newcastle claimed a point to dent Chelsea's title aspirations.
