He's been frozen out of the Real team according to the current manager.

Who wants to bet that he manages to walk away earlier than august.

Who cares? His football career is effectively over. He might as well hang up his boots completely.........................

He never really had a point at Madrid apart from selling shirts. Capello doesn't care much for the superstar image.

Neither do I.;)

That's why he's going to "Hollywood"........................

And another thing - by selling his soul to Hollywood, Becks has shown himself to be a total hypocrite following his previous statement that he was going to "fight all the way" to get his England place back.

Presumably there's no "fight" left in him...................... I dare say all that money's got something to do with it.;)

Is it true that all the kids are made to wear "I Love Brand Beckham" T-shirts??

Worse yet, do they have to wear his perfume?:o

posh140107_228x167.jpgMayhem: Victoria is mobbed by photographers as she arrives in LA

On Thursday at 8.30am Los Angeles time, as news broke of David Beckham's £128million deal to join LA Galaxy, the club's management team were oblivious to the drama.

There had been no phone call to Galaxy's PR man to inform him of the imminent arrival of the 'Great One'.

And the first Galaxy manager Frank Yallop heard of his new signing was when the word 'congratulations' flashed up on his Blackberry screen; his friends and family, it turns out, knew before him. 'I haven't even spoken to David yet,' he revealed. Poor old Frank, you see, is irrelevant.

How Beckham managed to keep a straight face during those TV interviews when he insisted his move from Madrid's Bernabeu stadium to Beverly Hills was about football, not money, only he will know.

But Frank Yallop's admission should convince anyone who is in the slightest doubt about what game Bucks - sorry, Becks - will be playing over in California.

If we needed confirmation that this latest move is far more about millions than football, look no further than the man who brokered his transfer from Real Madrid.

Simon Fuller, whose 19 Entertainment business now represents Beckham, created the Spice Girls, of course, and Pop Idol.

Through the success of Pop Idol's spin-off American Idol, he is now said to be worth an astonishing £2.5billion, but he is always hungry for more.

Make no mistake, the Beckham transfer was always about showbusiness, never 'sah-kurr'.

And even, cynics might add, about Fuller's own ambitions. As he modestly revealed over the weekend: 'I always wanted to create history with the biggest sports deal ever and David Beckham is the only athlete in the world who could have made this happen.

'His decision to move to Galaxy and play in Major League Soccer is the beginning of probably his greatest and most important adventure of all.'

But more pertinently even than David's grand ambitions, Fuller represents Victoria's best chance to crack Hollywood. Why?

The average American still thinks of football as a game for children, women and foreigners - and despite the hype, Beckham is still relatively unknown Stateside.

It is Victoria whom the Americans have embraced rather more enthusiastically than her husband; they still remember her from her days with the Spice Girls, her line of jeans for the fashion label Rock and Republic have been worn by supermodel Elle Macpherson and Scarlett Johansson, and it is her friendship with Tom and Katie Cruise making headlines in American gossip magazines.

In other words, for the first time since the end of the Spice Girls, Victoria is more than just a 'sleeping partner' in Brand Beckham and with Fuller present to broker the deals (he has, apparently, been trying to line her up for a role in Desperate Housewives as well presenting a fashion series for a major U.S. network), she has the chance to become a star again.

How ironic for the woman who's tried so desperately to reinvent herself time and again that the man who launched her career has - a decade on - masterminded her greatest coup.

Brand Beckham, it seems, is no longer about David. Victoria never really settled in Spain and it took her a year to join her husband in Madrid. Contrast then with now.

Victoria agreed to move to LA quicker than you could say Rodeo Drive - in fact it's not hard to imagine her elbowing passengers out the way to clamber into First Class on the first flight to LA.

To the girl-next-door from Hertfordshire, a lucrative move to La La Land must seem like all her Christmases coming at once - with the astute guidance of the well-connected Fuller, and new best friends Tom and Katie, she must be positively salivating over her future prospects.

Aside from her acting dreams, Victoria is working on her DVB (as in David/Victoria/Beckham) line of sunglasses, handbags and jeans, and if all goes to plan, many predict Brand Beckham could eventually be worth a billion dollars.

That's the kind of serious money that will make even Hollywood royalty take notice.

And that's where the Cruises come in. Through them, Victoria has been introduced to Jennifer Lopez and her husband Marc Anthony; Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett-Smith; and Jim Carrey and his actress girlfriend Jenny McCarthy.

While friends describe Victoria as having 'a new zeal' about her, sceptics have questioned the nature of her relationship with the Cruises.

As a high-profile Scientologist, Tom can hardly fail to see David and Victoria as a juicy opportunity.

Certainly, if he can convince them to convert, they would be the religion's highest-profile European recruits of all.

Although Scientology counts Hollywood stars such as John Travolta and Kirstie Alley among its members, so far it has failed to make a real impact in Europe - despite opening a lavish new centre in London recently.

According to friends, Victoria recently read a selection of Scientology pamphlets given to her by the Cruises, and spent time at their wedding talking to David Miscavige - Tom's best man and the head of the 'church'.

Victoria said recently: 'I've spoken to Tom about Scientology. They do what they do and they're cool.'

For the Beckhams, America offers financial opportunities in a whole new league to anything they could have earned in Europe.

With David's Galaxy deal bringing in £500,000 a week - five times what he earned at Real Madrid -and as the only footballer in the world to get a cut of ticket receipts as part of his deal, he will be earning at least £26million a year.

That does not include his existing sponsorship deals with Gillette, Pepsi and Motorola, worth around £12million a year. And if he goes on to front a series of American advertising campaigns - again rumoured to have been arranged by Fuller - his annual earnings could well top £50million a year.

If Victoria brokers separate deals of her own - she is currently working on a movie treatment for a Beckham biopic, while Fuller has his eye on that TV fashion series for her - as a couple they could bring in around £60million a year.

With an existing fortune of £87million, they could be worth £500million in less than seven years.

How this will endear Becks to his fellow players at LA Galaxy (the team of which he wishes to 'maximise the potential') is anyone's guess.

Indeed, how Victoria will fit in with the rest of the LA WAGs is already the subject of some debate.

She faces stiff competition in the glamour stakes from model and actress Bianca Kajlich - wife of Galaxy captain Landon Donovan - who has just landed a starring role on U.S. TV series called Rules of Engagement.

And a friend of one of the Galaxy WAGs said: 'There's already resentment among the girls towards Victoria because of how much more David will be making than their husbands.

'If she thinks she's going to walk in here like the Queen of England she's going to find herself in for a very rude awakening.'

However the billion-dollar question (quite literally) is whether David can convince the American public to become as fascinated by him as his British fans have been.

He has already appeared stripped to the waist on the cover of American Vanity Fair CHK, but to most over there he remains rather a vague figure, despite two previous commercial assaults.

As one American housewife put it: 'David Beckham ... erm, Victoria Beckham's husband, right?'

That, naturally, will be music to Posh's ears after years of being overshadowed by her husband's sporting talent.

As for Simon Fuller, the petty jealousies of his pushy protegee mean little as long as the millions keep rolling in.

LOL! Here come the ketchup chips!

I'm afraid I've lost all respect for Becks:cry: . I used to love him. Oh well, as long as I still have Crouchy everything'll be fine!:)

So have I. Ugh! It's like it's not about soccer anymore! It's just money and fame. :embarassed:

Ashame, he could have put more into soccer and come out as a legend.

So if someone offer you a job at a million a week, you'd turn it down? I've got about half the footie skills as Becks does nowdays, but hey I don't have a skank wife for added publicity, so I'll do with say $300,000 a week. MLS, come and get me!

Football

Don't get backbiters ! We'll see in the long run what the most prestigious English players will do in his new team. Maybe it will do the American team a lot of good, as he intended to do. Whatever the great job he'll do, it won't deserve the nonsensical amount of money he'll cash. :shocked2:

I've never played football my dear. I enjoy watching it though. Besides, I'm rather for the Dutch teams such as PSV Eindhoven. :)

Unfortunately that all went out of the window as soon as he married Sticktoria.

For a true footballing legend you should look no further than Ryan Giggs. In his case the publicity has always been about his football achievements and nothing else, and he's still going strong for United even though he's of a similar age to Becks.

Within reason, yes - but in the UK an owner of a cat like that would now be prosecuted for animal cruelty!!:stunned:

You're telling anything. I even don't feel like answering. :veryangry:
