7-inch vinyl box set announced

Featured Replies

We're very pleased to announce that, for the first time, all 14 of Coldplay's singles are to be collected together in a box set. 'The Singles 1999-2006' will be released internationally on March 26th.

Each single will be pressed on heavyweight 7-inch vinyl and sleeved in its original artwork. The box set will contain five singles which have never previously appeared on 7-inch vinyl. They include 'The Blue Room EP', Coldplay's rare first release for Parlophone in October 1999, which has been split into two 7-inch singles. The box set will also feature the international singles, 'Don't Panic', 'God Put A Smile Upon Your Face' and 'What If', none of which were released in the UK. It will also include 'The Hardest Part', which was previously only available as a download in the UK.

Please note that this collection will only be released as a 7-inch vinyl box set, there will not be a CD release.

ooooh my birthday! hehe

I saw this on ebay last wk!

old news. this is already up...think in the releases forum. check for comments and more info there.

It's back in actually! Very Retro

Too much hassle involved in playing vinyl, it scratches too easily and you need too much storage space. That's why it disappeared in the first place!;)

i think i'm turning into a spammer :borg:

But do you actually play any of them??

The only bad thing about vinyls is that I don't have anything to put them on my mp3player.

I love them though, they're so much nicer than CDs somehow.

I wonder how much this set will cost though, a fortune I bet.

It sounds fantastic, but i wish they were releasing this box set as a CD one too, i don't have a vinyl record player :(

It's more of a collector's item though isn't it? I don't think it's really intended for people to play the records.

Glad there's finally been an official announcement.

I love vinyl... it has a much richer sound- more character. And it doesn't take up all that much room sideways because its thin. A stack of records and a couple of bookends take up about the same amount of room on a shelf for the same number of albums as a fancy cd rack does... you just need more height. Yeah, not so great for a car , but awesome for a fixed stereo system.

I really wish I had money to collect more- found my dad's old (nice high-end) turntable in a closet about a year ago, but still only have his classical music to play. Which isn't bad, but itsn't mine, either.

I hope this doesn't cost too much, I really want it. Blue Room! on Vinyl! :D Nice to have the original artwork, too. Here's hoping.

I'd really want this, but then I have to go out and buy a turntable...aw man...

i haven't the money at the moment :S

I still think releasing it just in vinyls isnt such a good idea....

i broke my stylus, but when i get a new one i'll play the shit out of my spinto and lovely feathers vinyls.

oh my GOD, this is WONDERFUL!! i'm sooo excited! i LOVE vinyl. i listen to records whenever im in my room.

i bet itll cost a freaking fortune, though. any guesses for price range?

Oh my God. I think I just shit my pants. Coldplay just won't stop with the awesome stuff.

I think the fact that they're ONLY releasing it in 7" vinyl is fan-fucking-tastic. Vinyl is so much more curable, has a richer sound, and is beautiful. I already own their three LPs on vinyl so this'll complete my collection!

I think releasing it in all vinyl is really gutsy of them. That's something that's very musical-purist type and I love it.

YAY!

I already own their three LPs on vinyl so this'll complete my collection!

If you don't mind my asking, how did you get ahold of the albums on vinyl? Was it a local store? Or online somewhere? I'd really like to find a copy of arobtth...

Well, I got X&Y at a local store in Atlanta called Wax 'n' Facts, and I found both Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head at Amoeba records in Los Angeles. There's another local shop called Criminal Records that always has some Coldplay vinyl.

Just find some local shops and poke around in there. Or, if you're ever in Los Angeles, be sure to visit Amoeba. It's like... the holy grail of record stores.

They're all over E-bay though, most for resonable prices. You should be able to find some easy. :)

money money money?or what

we all have the songs.why buy new stuff with old songs?

X&Y on vinyl was even in some really big commercial stores here. But I didn't get it back then because I hated them for making X&Y at this point, I almost did though...
