Black Rose
yeah, i know. but i don't like it still. cos it can go pretty OT. tho i did like the episodes with the ghost hunting magician that everyone was all into at his school & even Rukia was doing that X gesture with the hands...if that can be considered filler stuff. IIRC the first time it happened in the early episodes before the "rescue Rukia from the soul society" storyline was featured in the book (when it was set at the hospital). Yellow Hill
Could anyone recommend me a really good anime movie? One that I could watch without ever watching the series too. Anything of the likes of Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle, which I love a lot. What about Mononoke Princess?
TechnicolorGreenEyes
I kinda feel sorry for kids these days, the movies aimed at them are just so...rubbish, my kids are gunna live on Studio Ghibli, Old School Disney and Pixar
Yellow Hill
You are so right. Kids movies are dumb these days and have a lack of originality.

Ah, ok. Wasn't sure if the Karakura Superheroes were considered filler stuff since I kinda felt like I've seen him in the manga before. Tho I don't follow it now. indanomati
i quite liked Steam Boy, for the standalone anime movies. else can't really go wrong with any other Studio Ghibli movie, imo. Gonna watch Steamboy tonight =) Can't wait! What about Mononoke Princess? Yeah, I've heard a lot about it. Problem is I always miss it when it's on TV but I'll try to be more attentive this time. I kinda feel sorry for kids these days, the movies aimed at them are just so...rubbish, my kids are gunna live on Studio Ghibli, Old School Disney and Pixar I agree, they aren't even entertaining most of the time too or they are but for the wrong reasons and that is due to lacking a lot of originality like Yellow Hill said. IIRC all the manga had in with the superheroes was small parts on the pages in between chapters in one of the volumes, so it is filler.

TechnicolorGreenEyes
Same, I hate the new EVA (as in the unit) though, have you seen it? It's horrible.
Yellow Hill
I know, I don't know what to think of all those changes. What do you think of the new character? A friend told me he found a link, but with a very bad quality. I shall wait.
TechnicolorGreenEyes
Yeah there are cam rips all over. I am glad they've made it just a completely different story, because I didn't like some of the stuff they missed out of 1.0 However the fight with the 5th angel (the one where they had to snipe it) is absolutely beautiful. Kaworu is more heavily involved from the off as well, it's basically just a different story all together, so I am glad they are not "ruining" the perfection of the original series
Yellow Hill
So there will be no Touji drama?
TechnicolorGreenEyes
I just finished watching "Planetes" I was really disappointed with how it was going 6 or 7 episodes in but it got really great and was a very enjoyable series. Wtih some genuinely touching and "realistic" issues tackled. Which leads me to wonder why it is that a lot of Anime starts off trivial and "silly" before there is a turning point and it gets "serious". I would have stopped watching a few shows had I not been told that they were worth grinding through the earlier episodes to where it starts to get good. In fact even with EVA, if I had seen the first episode on TV I don't think I would have tuned in the next week for the 2nd.
Mister Snig
I just saw Evangelion for the first time. In its entirety, including End of Evangelion. O_O Dear Lord, it was brilliant. Those last two episodes left me confused, as they're supposed to, but watching EoE made the entire series click for me. There's some debate as to whether episodes 25/26 or EoE was the better ending, and while they're essentially the same, I think End of Evangelion is superior. That final scene is chilling. TechnicolorGreenEyes
I think they both work together, if you imagine that episodes 25/26 are happening when the instrumentality starts, I actually think the episodes depict the instrumentality far better and deal with Shinji's emotions far better. But on a whole EoE is better, so I think I enjoy it most watching them both, I don't think one replaces the other. I'm glad you loved it though, I rarely meet other EVA fans, it's one of my favourite things ever.
Mister Snig
Oh yeah, I realize that both endings exist within the same continuity, but EoE is better as a whole. The next time I watch the series, I'm going to pause EoE right before *SPOILERS* Shinji emerges from the LCL, play the last two episodes, then resume EoE. But yeah, that was probably one of the best things, movie, anime, or television show, I've ever seen. In fact I liked the show so much,
TechnicolorGreenEyes
Holy fuck, that's awesome :D I know you know they exist alongside one another, I wasn't patronising you. Just saying that there's no need for them to be pitted off against each other, like so many fans tend to do. The whole scene when the instrumentality is happening in EoE with all the Rei's turning into people that the person they are instrumentalising (not a real word) held close to their heart with the music playing in the background is beautiful Ah I love it so much.
