Black Rose
I have searched, but I'm surprised that there isn't a general thread on anime series which grace the world. As you might already know, I am a fan of anime, which several DVDs of shows, but I would like to know what other people think of the genre, and in particular recommend some animes for me to try and watch. For example, Heat guy J, Noir, Area 88, Ghost in the Shell etc. So...
kekita
never seen those would really like to but only get the chance when shown on tv. i really liked Neon Genesis Evangelion, the way it was directed and drawn was really top class, the "angles" were really creatively designed , the music was well done and the plot very confusing but one that made you think. Its chock a block full of action juxtaposed with moments of stillness : long periods of silence with the occasional bird calls or a train ratteling past (you can really feel the ambiance). i love that about anime they are usually seen as cartoons but they are much more than that. Also there are many types so there is something for everbody. One thing i don't particularly like about anime are the skinny girls with the impossible big jugs and skimpy outfits. kekita
spirited away, princess mononoke, Battle Angel, Vampire Princess Miyu, Rayearth, sailor moon also there's one about this kid with throbbing big head who wants to destroy the planet using an ancient machine hidden in north ( or south) pole- an ex-soldier/killing machine trys to stop him and theres some reference to biblical themes the ark for example == i forgot the name so i can only give a description. Black Rose
I gave up on watching them on TV, renting the DVDs from a service like lovefilm is better. Then you have the choice of watching with either the audio in english or japansive.
Kyuu
I recommand Naruto, the best selling anime of all time. ;) The show's really nice, it often moved me, so check it out at www.narutofan.com for more info, or just ask me.

Marky
Haven't really watched any anime for years now, but i've just gotten into 'Beck: Mongolian chop squad', by recommendation from a couple of mates. They said it really made them want to start a band. Half way through and it is quite inspiring :guitarist:
Black Rose
I watched the first volume of Rahxephon last night (first 5 episodes). Seems very good with a good story line, so I will add volume 2 into my rental list. And after a couple months, Naruto volume 1 has come today, so i will be watching that tonight :)

Black Rose
Naruto was good, although it has the slight disadvantage of being a bit predictable in episode 5.
tgaucho
spirited away, princess mononoke . . . big :thumbsup on those. I'm an absolutely huge fan of Miyazaki's. I've seen nearly all his films and loved every one. No one's mentioned the two best anime series' of all time yet? Damn! Far and away people, no contest: Cowboy Bebop Samurai Champloo if we're talkin' films, i'd say Ninja Scrolls is the best feature length anime ever . . and, again, i'd say it's no contest at all

Kyuu
Depends on what episode you mean. If you tell me the episode, I give you the song. :nice:

tgaucho
i've always wanted to see Cowboy Bebop it was on tv but i always missed out on watching it. if you find that the site you mentioned isn't too fantastic, you can always download the Bebop seasons as torrent files ( i use isohunt.com the most). That's probably the easiest and fastest way to watch them all in order and at a decent quality. Just an absolutely rediculously great series . . and the movie is quite good as well (it fits into the series somewhere between the 22nd and 23rd episode if i remember right) i envy you. I wish i could watch them again for the first time. :) soooooo good
