New Genesis Boxset: 1970-1975 (Peter Gabriel years)

 

I don't know if there are any Genesis fans here, but the band have just released a third boxset of remastered albums, and this one is from the Peter Gabriel era. It contains CD and DVD versions (in 5.1 surround sound) of Trespass, Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England By The Pound, The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, and a bonus disc of leftover tracks from that era. The bonus disc also includes the "Genesis Plays Jackson" tapes, recorded in 1969, which have never been released until now.

 

I haven't had much time to listen to it since I bought it on Tuesday (college is starting again), but whoever did the remastering deserves an award for his work. The albums sound fuller and richer, and there are so many things that weren't noticable in the original mixes that are crystal clear now. It's like listening to the band perform the songs in front of you, the sound is that good. The Knife practically knocked me out.

 

If you're a Genesis fan, trust me, you need this boxset. It's worth it, completely.

So Nick Davis is going to make a boxset out of all the live Genesis albums, same as the studio albums. It'll be coming out later this year or early next year, all of them remixed and most of them in 5.1 surround sound and with bonus live tracks.

I was practically born as a Genesis fan and grew up listening to their music. It's incredible to me the amount of similarities there are between Genesis and Coldplay.

Yes!!

 

I didn't draw comparisons until VLV/DAAHF, but there certainly are more now...right down to a Dystopc concept album,lol.

 

And I'm almost seeing Mylo and Rael in a similar light though the centre of very different stories.
