Well I'm one of this tiny group of people who don't like RHCP that much. I have never liked.

If you listen to their latest album, it has 3 songs which they repeat over and over again with different lyrics, and even one of those 3 songs is a Tom Petty song...

all these are not necessarily who i'd vote for but they are my predictions.

Because unlike the Libertines whose musical output was quite simply AAB, U2 has at least released 2 'classic' albums.

The Libertines only needed one album to become as influencial as they were and are. THAT is achievement. They were about something you could really believe in.

To become champion, you have to beat all sorts of competition, some easy, some hard.

The Libertines only needed one album to become as influencial as they were and are. THAT is achievement. They were about something you could really believe in.

 

I disagree, they were only a NME band, whose output was average at best in my eyes. It's the same as the Strokes. All the talk of them saving music is laughable, they have simply turned "guitar-driven" pop into another genre.

The Libertines have nothing on U2. If you ask an average go on the streets of America who the Libertines are and to name one of their song, you probably wouldn't find too many people who can. But if you do the same with U2, I'm sure most people would know a song or two of theirs. Nobody in the band even comes close to the legend of Bono.

I don't think the wrong band was highlighted, just that The Strokes are still preferable (to the even less remarkeable Snow Patrol - which is not my personal view btw, I think SP are heaps better).

 

And what a crime - U2 vs Radiohead in round 2?!! There'll be some huge casualties there... At least it wasn't Beatles vs Arcade Fire (I nearly thought they were going head to head coz they're in the top 2 ties).
