I have the School Certificate this year.

I guess I'll actually have to study this time around.

I don't mean to discourage you from your studies or anything... but the School Certificate is pretty easy. Not much study needed, and anyway, if you're going on to Yr12 the SC doesn't hold much, if any, influence unless maybe an employer wants to know your marks.

By all means, study (it helps if you do at least a little bit of study), but I'm just saying.. don't bother stressing bout it too much.

those 5 letters means so much back in year 10. seems you got things under control. just don't panic or stress. heaps of my friends were a nervous wreck during the exam period, but after you walk out, you realize the worry wasn't worth it :)

doing past exam papers also helps.

Thanks alot, i did buy loads of past paper and have no idea how am i going to finish them before the real exam haha (hope it'll help)

IGCSE = International General Certificate For Secondary Education

(this is not from my brain, i search it from google)

It's British certificate

and i'll take it in year 11(which is now) not year10

I have leaving examination this year....and the whole period lasts for 2 months.... someone shoot me please!

i can feel your pain. my exam starts from the end of this month to the 6th of june :(

i know exactly what you mean. its so depressing. screw school. when am i ever going to use half the stuff they teach you?

i'm in the middle of exam period now! Its so fun.

6 june, d-day ^ in more ways than one then.

i did the IGCSE back in papua new guinea not australia so i wouldn't know what states, if any, they are carried out.

out of curiosity, what are your subjects peng? i did mine in year 10. in year 11 and 12 i did the IB as well as a lot of other acronyms lol

i wish you good luck with your exam, lots of patience and calmness and as less stress as possible! =) This long exam period is just ... tiresome, but everyone must go through it I guess...

I take 9 subjects which are ESL, Business, Environmental Management, Thai, Maths, Biology, Physics, Art and Literature

My teacher said 9 is normal but sometime i think it's way too much

In my school students will take A-level in year 12-13

But I don't think I'm going to take it.

and thanks Nina, hope you'll do your best too and don't shoot yourself :P

oh peng if you need any help with biology don't hesistate to ask me. thats the one subject at least i know i'll be giving you proper help with ;)

Thanks josh

i start to wonder how many times i posted the word thanks in this thread?

@peng, some things have changed in the subject availability. i did a few of those too. around 9 too. lol yr.10 was one of my most amazing years. i can't remember a lot of the academic side of it, but it was so much f u n !

@josh, haha i've been doing biology all week. 3 subjects worth to the point i'm excited about looking at chemistry!

i love biology. i don't know why, its just logical and fun. its annoying now that i cant do it again this year.

* i did y12 biol last year, so now theres no more school biol for me to do :( and uni extension is only offered on the otherside of the city from me...

i'd reply to you sooner if I saw your post, but i didn'! :/

I know already that I won't need chemistry, physics or biology never again. Thanks god I don't have to pass the exams of these subjects!

Kathy, Peng & Josh - I see that your school system is quite different from ours. We don't really do all these GCSEs each year, but only at the end of the final year at highschool. We need to pass 5 exams that consist of knowledge that we should have gained in previous four years... Now that I hear that you have to pass exams of all classes/lessons you take.... wow, I hardly doubt I'd be able to pass them all. :/

This isn't so much homework as a matter of curiosity.

Do butterflies ome out of cocoons or is there a more specific/scientific term for what they come out of? I thought cocoon but last night my niece said it was something else (she's only 5, nearly 6, but she still made me wonder) and I don't remember the word she used.. I think it started with a 'p'.

is it "pupa"? This is what I've found on Wikipedia right now:

The four stages in the lifecycle of a butterfly

more at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterfly ;)

Yeah, I think it was 'pupa'! Haha, I thought she was speaking another language or something when she said it.

Thankyou!!!

what is THAT?

im pretty sure i missed that class...

sorry Nina, cant help, now i feel stupid.

if anyone has any hotel management/restaurant/culinary questions, then i might help...

URGENT URGENT URGENT!!!!!!

reply ASAP, please!

It's Calculus.

I really ought to remember how to do that. It's a fairly simple one once you know the right formula to plug it in to. I can't for the life of me remember how though. :embarassed:

I tried something with the oposite function of integrating, but it didn't really help me. If there was e instead of 2, I could easily solve the calculus, but in this case I get nowhere. :(

2^x/ ln(2)

thanks! Just one question, though. how did you get this result? is there any special formula for it or am i just stupid not to see how to solve it* *g*
