The end of a careless life...

Featured Replies

....is coming very soon (at least in my case) and it does not really feel good...I'll have to pay for my own flat, for my university, for my food, for my clothes, for electricity, etc. pretty soon......how shall I do this? My parents can't really help me there...

and now I've realised that this really must be the end of a careless life...wow that's so strange...suddenly you are confronted with typical life problems you didn't even think about some months ago....some months ago you were still a kid who went to school...everybody cared for you...your teachers....everyone....and now you have to care for yourself....

that's pretty sad actually....how nice was my life when I was 4 or 5 or 6 or 11 or 14....I went to school, did my homework and played with friends....

I will miss this so much......bye bye careless life:cry:

Yup, this is the real world. Everyone will face this someday in their life sooner or later. You have to manage your money and time and attitude yourself, cos now you're on your own. Sometimes it sucks, but you will find some enjoyment in living and controlling your own life. I hope. ;)

It's funny how we used to dream of becoming a grown-up, but when that day comes we hope that we could go back to our childhood. :)

oh julia, we have to face it one day, real life. we must get a job even if we don't like it, to can pay things we use (electricity, flat...).

that's why to get used to the cost of life, my parents discount me a percentage of the cost of our flat (electricity, water...) a 10% of it, from my pocket money, to get used to it. :)

soon i will have to get a job too, and live by myself (do all the tasks a house needs), will live alone for a year in a different country, i don't know anybody there, and don't know too much the language yet.

i'm not that sad or scared, may be i just prefer not to think too much about it.

but everybody has to do it soon or later. :) we are not the only one who are having to face it now. you'll find more people at your uni that are having the same experience at the same time, so you'll have that in common with them, and so may be you can help ones with the others, for instance giving the other advice for some tasks. :)

You will face more responsabilities but you will enjoy it.

You should not be scared,is normal you would not like at first.

One advice I can give you is: do not worry about all the "problems" you would face, take time to enjoy what is left of your careless life and is just matter of time and you would see yourself working and paying bills without more problems

Unfortunately, and as everyone said it, it had to happen.

You'll get used to it, even if sometimes you will feel like you're not ready at all.

I've been experencing it during 9 months before stopping my studies.

First, it's hard, really.

But then, you really enjoy it.

You do whatever you want to, whenever you feel like to.

No one is at one to annoy you, or to tell you to do this and that.

Yeah I'm smart enough to kno that this has to happen one day...but it's still sad if ou think about it....

same here, julia. i'm also not looking forward to what's next (uni) very much and i'm sort of scared. but at least i'm not going to move out, well, not yet.

but hey, life won't always be as it is, there are so many changes, which are of course necessary - it would become extremely boring if everything would always stay the same

i'm in the same position. i've been away from home before but working AND studying is different. i've been very busy these days applying for and a shared flat but them things are rather hard. i'm not particularly scared about it, i think its a good thing to move on and i havent really had a careless life before. moving out was a great experience for me. but obviously i'm a little worried that i might not find a job soon and the fact that its in a different country doesnt make it easier.

are you moving to a different town, julia?

good luck! i'm also looking for a flat at moment and i'm probably gonna view one or two next week.

definitely! i'm not even think about this right now its studying first and then you gotta pay off your debt which takes forever

two days ago i got punched by that feeling, too. :blank: I mean ... it'll be only me, myself and I with some yet unknown people in a flat. I can't wait to get away from home, but still .. it's going to be so totally different that ... :blank:

Thanks Ari:D

Oh it's actually just one room...and I have to share the bathroom with two other girls ...but it's nice...especially the area where I'll live...not really like a big city....it's cosy and there are many small shops and trees and a nice street with not that many cars...it's an old house in the style of those houses in 19th century....or let's say the beginning of the 20th century...really really cosy...I'm really happy that this turned out well....

Thanks Ari:D

Welcome to the real world, where you have to budget for every euro.

Thanks Ari:D

Ahh Julia, I'm so happy for you. There's nothing better than living next to street without lots of traffic.

When exactly are you moving out? Bet, you're already very excited!

Thanks Lars:wacko:

Oh yeah I'm really excited and can't wait....not because I want to get away from my family or something...just because I really like the flat and the area...:D

I'm moving out at the beginning of October...;)

Thanks Lars:wacko:

Ah, I'm so jealous. Can't wait to start a new life next year. :)

Do you have to pay tuition fee in North Rhine-Westphalia? Here it's totally different. In Lower Saxony (where I live) you must pay 500€ each semester, while a few kilometers away it's for free in Bremen (again). That's also a reason why I want to move to Berlin next year. It's still free there, too. ;)

That's an advantage of having federalism in Germany. :D

The question is Julia, now your off to Uni, are you going to hang up your keys and stand-down as moderator to allow someone else to come in?

  • Author

@Lars: Yes unfortunately you have to pay the 500€ in whole north-Rhine Westfalia....if I found a uni in Rhineland-Platonia (where I'm from) I wouldn't have had to pay because people who are from Rhineland-Platonia don't have to pay if they stay in Rhineland-Platonia...;)

@Dave: Well, I think I'll stay a moderator then....I'll have internet in my flat I think.....so I think I'll find at least 5 minutes everyday to come on here...and if not I'll say goodbye to my responsibility...

Oh what a pity! So you haven't found something in Mainz or Kaiserslautern? :P What about your life at the moment? Are you still working?

You have to pay 500€ per month? :o

No each semester, so every 6 months! But that's not everywhere in Germany, only in a few federal states, especially in the Western parts. ;)
