September 11, 200718 yr Here are my opinions about these songs... Ones i like: Violet hill- this one is my favorite by far Cemetries of london- sounds like it is unoriginal but who knows? still pretty good... rainy day- once again unoriginal but still decent 42- mmm... sounds interesting, i like it! Ok titles: Yes!, Help!: There shouldn't be two titles like this on one album in my opinion... they are too similar. One of these though (preferably yes!) would be fine. Poppy fields- not my favorite but not a bad one. Bad ones: Leftrightleftrightleft- Ugh! no! euw! though titles a good and bad, i can't really judge till i hear the songs.
September 11, 200718 yr Maybe they are just taking the piss. That would be just mean. :laugh3: It's been a while, and with that whole VMA thing some of us are losing patience. But I like the leftright... one. It's too long to be a single though god.
September 11, 200718 yr LeftRight etc is an awesome name for a song. I agree. :P Could be a marching/military-esque type song, or one with a lot of drums (left right left right sticking? :P) Will has been quite boring with the drums last two albums (and most of Parachutes besides Shiver and Don't Panic), he should step it up...
September 12, 200718 yr I agree. :P Could be a marching/military-esque type song, or one with a lot of drums (left right left right sticking? :P) Will has been quite boring with the drums last two albums (and most of Parachutes besides Shiver and Don't Panic), he should step it up... WHAT!!!?? Will...boring...drums??!!!! NOOOOOO!!!! ha ha JK. I mean, i still think you are wrong but I respect your opinion. i dont think his drumming is boring, but i know and he himself admits that he doesnt do any of that "riddly-diddly stuff" with the drums. but i think his drumming on x&y was great!! didnt he do that whole banging on the glasses on "Low"? and the drumming on Speed of Sound was really cool i thought. chris said that he pushed himself to try new things on x & y and i'm sure he's doing the same for this upcoming one. and, not being sarcastic in any way, i think my opinion of Will's drumming is true despite my extreme bias towards him (he's my fave!!!!!)!!! :D
September 12, 200718 yr Well, I'm a drummer myself, and there's many places where Will can stick in a fill or two, or a slight improv, but he doesn't. O.o It's quite boring to play along to, at least. It's very very basic and regular. :S I mean, imagine if he added some floor tom (or any tom that matter) into Politik! It would be sweet. O.o Will isn't a bad drummer, but I think he could be more creative.
September 12, 200718 yr Odd names. But Cemeteries of London better rock my socks off. I like the title.
September 12, 200718 yr ah you're a drummer! cool :) !!! well, i don't play drums, so my opinion of will's drumming isn't as sophisticated or as knowledgable as yours. i guess i just really am biased :embarassed:! i think his drumming is great but yeah, sure he could've done more, and i guess if i were a true fan of his i'd want want to hear more from him. drum solo drum solo drum solo :D... don't hold back on us anymore will, we know you can bang da drum!!! but maybe he just knows when to hold back and be subtle or do his part and let the others do theirs as well? i dunno, but yeah, i'm sure he'll shine on this new album, whether it's on drums or in his *longing sigh* singing!!!!
September 12, 200718 yr man i had put my comment on here then i thought....i really dont care what the song titles seem like becos i knw ima end up loving th ealbum it never fails i wasnt a fan of X&Y at first but nowadays the songs are growing on me....maybe its the lack of coldplay material that is out or something else but i knw ima end up loving the new album and i doubt they name it something like "42" becos they have never really seemed like a literal band....lol more metorphorish
September 12, 200718 yr i like Cemeteries of London Violet Hill 42 Rainy Day im actually a bit nervous to find out how these songs are...i think my expectations are high for them...cos mean this is Coldplay! but im sure the songs are better than their titles
September 16, 200718 yr Cementeries of london is a dark song, it seems so dark, i don't know where coldplay want to go. i'm so confused with some things.
September 17, 200718 yr leftrightleftrightleft is cool! :) I'd liked to if the song just called : leftrightleft but that way is OK too
September 18, 200718 yr If Violet Hill and Poppy Fields are actually two separate songs on the same album, I will lose all hope.
September 18, 200718 yr If Violet Hill and Poppy Fields are actually two separate songs on the same album, I will lose all hope. What do you mean by that? I take that you dislike the titles :D
September 19, 200718 yr I don't understand why everyone is rushing to judgment on the new album based on track titles. Personally I like the choices. But even if you don't we haven't heard a single song from the album yet we should give it a chance. Keep an open mind about the album at least till the first single comes out. It's good that the band is moving in a new direction. X&Y was an enjoyable album but it was at times bloated and unfocused. A new sound and a more concise track list may be exactly the kind of rejuvenation the band needs.
September 19, 200718 yr on a separate note I think leftrighleftrightleft will be a more political song
December 19, 200718 yr I really like leftrightleftrightleft, I think its a cool song title, they might even release it. But even though we have favourite song titles im sure the weird titles (poppy feilds and violet hill) will be just as fantasic as all the other songs.:)
December 19, 200718 yr They are all great song titles.. I think I like Lost! most because of the tv show :P And Leftrightleftrightleft is strange. But it's original and I think I like it :)
March 30, 200818 yr With a song title named Poppy Fields , it hits right at home with me. For the reason that I live a few miles from the California Poppy Reserve! The poppies bloom in spring and go on for miles and miles and miles. I just can't wait to hear that tune! i tell you I can harldy wait I'm so excited!
March 30, 200818 yr well according to rolling stone, Cemeteries of London is an uptempo song with clapping and a melody that goes with the syllable's of "Cemeteries of London" so It can't be dark! :P But imo songs with clapping in, always make me cringe. hopefully it won't be cheesy. on a seperate agenda, I think 42 is going to be awesome, apparently it's the only song on the album that the band love as a whole, and it's being talked about as the first single. I like "Death and All his Friends" aswell though. that sounds awesome! xo
