Concerts & crowdsurfing

Featured Replies

Everyone on this board has hopefully been to concerts at one point. In my opinion, seeing your favorite bands live is one of the most awesome experiences in the world =) Recently I've crowdsurfed for the first & second time, also pretty cool to experience. Especially when you get to the stage and bands actually react to your presence!

What about you? Ever done it? Are you more one of the mosh pitters or jumpers? I'm very curious ;)

P.S:

To see me in crowdsurfing action, check out http://www.fabchannel.com/wir_sind_helden , then go to the song Müssen Nur Wollen. About halfway in, after the lead singer has done some talking, there will be a small blond person (me! yay!) floating over the crowd and eventually going up on stage. The singer has some things to say about me =)

I'm definitely a jumper.. And i sing too.. my friends always make fun of me 'cause it's like i go totally insane. I forget everything else and go crazy.

I broken my new pretty dress when i saw Muse last summer (no complaining )

In finland people aren't even allowed to do crowdsurfing.. i guess it's too "dangerous". So that's something you'll never see in Finland..

In the Netherlands it's forbidden at all festivals, but it differs per concert venue. Singing along and going nuts is always good though! And Muse are definitely awesome.

Crowdsurfers should be taken outside and shot.

It's one of the reasons why I try and get a seat, I don't want to be kicked in the head by some idiot trying to get near the front.

Wow, you sit at concerts? That's something I always try to avoid, it's so hard to dance when you're sitting down ;) What kind of concerts have you been to?

Various types.

I want to enjoy the live music and I can't do that when getting pushed around.

I can't stand crowd-surfers... I mean, those people possibly hurting themselves, that's okay, I don't mind about those guys' health... But they are threatening others' health as well - and, personally, I don't want to get knocked out by some crowd-surfing fool while watching my favourite band...

that's why I avoid the center of the crowd, if there are crowd-surfers around ;)

I admit that especially in very active crowds too many surfers are a nuisance...especially because it's mostly the big guys who do it, not the tiny blonde girls like me ;)

I wouldn't mind getting kicked by you

As long as you kiss the bump better

It's Ireen! :D

I've never really tried it. I'm more of a jumper.. but to the people who have tried to crowsurf.. I let them fall :D It's more fun for me to watch them fall then to watch the crowdsurf  Is that mean?

I used to stand but old age creeps in and now I actually want to sit at a great height and enjoy a concert atmosphere without queueing up for hours on end (easy access to the bar also counts). I don't have the patience like I used to either :dozey:

Whoa! irene! I havent seen ya in quite a while but hey great topic!Hmm i crowdsurfed a few times and i loved it! people didn't mind too much since i'm skinny so even girls could lift me haha:lol: But it's hell when a really fat guy wants to crowd surf, oh man, i saw it a few times and it was terrible! Everyone was like " oh fuck! here he comes, move move!" Ok, that was hilarious too but still haha. But i think i prefer jumping and singing all the time, i mean what's the point to stay sitting in a gig? hell with that! I go nuts and jump like there's no tomorrow ( and that's what i'm gonna do next month when i get to see travis yaaay! )

Although, i gotta admit i enjoy moshpits too, the wildest moshpit i've been to was during a pantera gig 10 years ago whoa that was so intense, i got lots of bruises but damn! i got to kick some asses too but you can imagine how messed i was when i got home, my mum thought i was mugged or something haha

Hahaha, no that's always fun, especially because some people just try to stay up for way too long. You should either get to where you want to be then go down, or just stop after a while. Specially when you're heavy. Specially at concerts with lotsa girls =)

Yeah at some concerts the pits get pretty intense :P Like during a Red Hot Chili Peppers show I was at @ Pinkpop festival 2006, during Me & My Friends, I got into the pit (cause I secretly sometimes enjoy that) and I got knocked to the ground (because re: tiny girl), but thank god someone pulled me up in time. As long as the mood's good it's okay, but it's really fucking annoying when there's just these three idiots trying to pit during every single song, even though no-one joins them.

You just reminded me of my cousin's wedding! I hadn't seen my cousins in such a long long time. Anyway, there was this song playing and we realized that all the cousins from our side were on the dance floor so we made a big circle and the song just got really crazy and we all started jumping and closing together.. it was so fast. Let me tell you, I was in a dress and high heels so you can imagine in one of those crazy turns I was about to fall! Luckly, I didn't but it was just so damn funny :laugh3: Awwwww, memories :nice:

when i saw Incubus, people were crowdsurfing and they got pulled out of the crowds coz the guards thought they'd passed out :dozey:

I FUCKING HATE WITH A PASSION, THE TWATS THAT FUCKING BUMP INTO YOU WHEN YOUR TRYING TO WATCH A BAND.

I mean like moshing or whatever that shits called, I don't want you to fucking touch/push/shove me when I'm trying to enjoy a performance.

Dancing is great, I love dancing and bopping along and enjoying myself but that stupid push shove bullshit is so unnecessary.

Nope, can't say i have ever done it,looks fun but.

oh man, when i went to my v1st Muse concert, people were crowd surfing out cos they couldn't stand the heat/felt sick...i can't believe i lasted..cos i mean heck this is Muse, i paid for this--i'm sticking with it!!! that was thee best time EVER! who knew i would be in a mosh..and the aches the next day..oh man SO worth it : )

i almost lost my glasses the last time i saw arctic monkeys when some guy rolled over me. that's my only gripe with crowdsurfers, and i expected it so i should have been ready. i've never done it, pretty dang sure i never will.

what i hate is people moshing to shitty music. it doesn't make it any better. i'm sorry to people who may like queens of the stone age, but holy shit ew.

I have done it before many times. But you have to do it at a show where the music fits. Now days, too many people doing it that are there to just to act like a dickhead and hurt people. I know what kind of show to expect it, so if I can't be bothered, I stay away from the area.

On a funny note, this is my pit bracelet from the Coldplay show in Indy on the X&Y tour. We all had a laugh when they made us put them on. Please don't let me get killed in the mega Coldplay mosh pit of death! :laugh3:

:laugh3::laugh3::laugh3: Oh yeah, I'd watch out for those larrikin Coldplay fans!

I tried it once, but the security guys confiscated my board.
