(which is what a few journalists do for magazines, they have 1 list of albums to count towards the overall album of the year, but they have a 2nd list of less-well known albums which if they voted for, the votes would have been wasted, like voting for the green party)

Um... I counted your 2nd list, then added what was left of your first list to the end of it, so all your votes counted, but weighted toward the popular ones.

 

Personally, I find it more useful to pick a couple of more obscure albums to champion by giving them as many points as possible hopefully to get them into the top 50 or so. The popular ones don't need my top ranks as much.

 

But hey, both methods work, I guess.
