this is embarrassing...but when I was a newbie I didn't know who Radiohead were and Rick's avi was Thom Yorke and I always thought it was Rick but then people started talking about this Yorke person and I thought it was the guy who invented York peppermint patties :lol:

Yeah but I mean how Coldplay was my favorite band but I didn't really know any other good bands, but now Radiohead is my fav. but I know tons of other awesome bands too!!! :nice:

:lol:Thats one of the funniest things i've ever read on the forum!! I was kind of the same way as you. I had a terrible music taste when i joined. My favorite bands besides coldplay were the red hot chili peppers, barenaked ladies, and goo goo dolls. I still like all of these bands but a year later i've fallen in love with muse, arctic monkeys, oasis, and i'm starting to really like radiohead! But i still never mistaked their lead singer for the creator of peppermint patties. :laugh3:

That's too funny Anna, but I can't make fun. I knew who radiohead were, but had somehow never seen a picture of Thom, so I too thought it was Rick!:embarassed::lol:

 

It was myu first large forum, so I really had no idea how to use it at first. I thin I've got the hang of it 2 years later!:D

i was kind of scared of posting when i first joined, so i only posted when i thought i had something really good to say. i read everything though! and i quickly learned that people didnt hate me just because i was a noob...even though i was still kind of a modest poster. it took me almost two years to branch out from just the coldplay forums!

 

but it was coldplaying that got me into radiohead. i would have never even bothered to check them out (even though it took a couple tries to really get into them :freak:) if it wasnt for this place! that i think is probably the greatest thing to come out of being a member here, though there are so many...

I remember when I was new.

 

I created a thread called "I have no Coldplaying Friends"

 

That caused a lot of controversy, it was great.

I has no clue there was such a chatty forum on the net, devoted to independent music! (& hats off to whoever runs this thing - I owe them a debt of gratitude for keeping the wheels turning day in, and day out..) & to Coldplay - who have brought meaning back to so many people's lives...

I still have those pictures you sent me...by real mail even. I guess we call it 'snail mail'. That's what maks this forum cool to me. have mails from you, and from Tania, and from cafepress when I got my copy of HWSTW. These are friendships I never had when I joined the forum, that now I have..ppl I'd even trust my address to. In my virtual life, I've met real folks that I consider to be friends...real friends.

 

I gotta say: This place means a LOT to me. The last couple of years have changed my life and HWSTW was a huge part of that.:D:D:D

I was overwhelmed by how big the site was and the board!!! Then I became a mod.... went to a few secret mod parties with carrots and sticks.. and the rest is history.....
