Biggest embarrasment over Coldplay

Featured Replies

Well, I was in a field trip with my classmates, and in the bus we all decided to watch a movie, It ended up being "the 40 year old virgin"... You see, I've never disguised the fact that I love Coldplay, I have a bracelet at all times and wear t-shirts of them and what not.... As you can imagine, I passed the following 2 weeks hearing "You know how I know you're gay?"

Now, tell your story... come on now, don't be shy, I know you have one ;)

Sorry, I posted this in the wrong board, I meant to put it in the board above.

I dont know if someone can move it, if not, well, here will do.

Or maybe I should just do the same topic in the board it was meant to?

whats the probleam, actually??

  • 2 weeks later...

Something similar happened to me...

But I wasn't watching the movie with my friends... the thing was that once I went to a meeting and they started to talk about that movie and about the comment on Coldplay!...

But I didn't care about that!!! And I told them that it's not a rule to be gay in order to be a Coldplay fan!!! Of course not!!! I told them that despite the comments I'll always love Coldplay Music!!!!

no one's made fun of me because of listening to coldplay. Except ateasers. But they don't matter.

No Problemo

*presses some buttons*

And if by magic the thread appears in coldplay

no one I know knows who Coldplay is, so I don't have a problem.

That must have been awful, lalo

Embarrassing Coldplay moments? I only have one I'm afraid.

*Flashback, accompanied with some special effects giving the impression of moving back in time*

The summer of 2005. A sweltering hot day in a park near Lewisham. [/lack_of_accuracy]

Sitting on the grass after having a scrumptious picnic with some family friends (with pringles, may I add), one of the boys decides to ask what everyone's favourite song currently is.

My brother is the first to answer. It's a popular song, and it makes him look 'hip' (I don't remember which one it was exactly). The boy's brother is next. Yes, his answer gets several nods of approval.

Then I find all eyes on me. Timidly, I decide to say the first song that comes to my head.

"Coldplay - Speed Of Sound."

There was an uneasy pause. Then mocking laughter (my brother also joins in... idiot).

I ask, "What's wrong with Speed Of Sound?" The boy answers: "Nah, it's a good song."

But he continues to snigger. The sarcasm couldn't be more obvious.

*Close up of my eyes. They start to water. Music swells. Fades to black*

Ok so I wasn't crying, I added that for effect :P . But it was embrarrassing nevertheless.

Awwwww *hugs*

This douchebag at school always makes fun of me because of Coldplay. And all my other friends are like 'oohhh...' awkwardly everytime I bring them up.

Poor Semy :(.

As for me... probably when my friends hopped onto my laptop without me noticing and found that I had been purving at the Post pictures of the gorgeous Chris thread... and one of a topless Chris. :embarassed: So now when I try and talk about this once mysterious man named Chris Martin, they tease me about being fugly. To which I flames them back

i love the screenplay-ish format of this story :smug:

and that there are pringles in it.

my embarrassing story is probably more than one story, but in short:

i was in the throes of my newfound coldplay love in april 2006 (well, it had existed for a full year at this point...whatever). i have a friend who technically introduced me to coldplay, and i constantly wanted to talk to her about coldplay because i was under the impression that she was as obsessed and into them as i was. it took me a loooong time to figure out that i was just embarrassing myself by going on about them all the time.

ANYWAY, i was going to see coldplay in concert for the second time with said friend, and it was kind of embarrassing in itself to be really really into the concert while she sat there somewhat stoically...

the thing was, we had to skip a day of school to go to the concert. this is kind of a BIG deal at my school to skip a day when you're not sick, and at the time i was up for a prefect position at school (big deal at my school) and word got out that i was skipping school...so guess who was called into the dean's office? i felt HORRIBLE, but i didn't regret going for a second. i just made my case and they accepted it, surprisingly enough. and i got the prefect position anyway! so i nearly sacrificed my job for coldplay, and there was a big stink caused around it. all for the love of coldplay!

wow, that wasn't so short at all

Awwwww *hugs*

*hugs back*

Screw 'em! we don't need them! If they don't like coldplay they're missing out!

@Chelsea: Ack, that must have been awkward. Both at the concert and in the Dean's office. But then again, I would say worth it for going to 2 Coldplay concerts! Lucky that at uni we get more freedom with this sort of thing.

definitely. but i have no qualms about missing classes here! i'd miss a week for coldplay if i had to.

the worst part of the experience was being scared into believing that i was no longer eligible for prefect by the dean. i freaked out for the entire week until positions were announced. oh, and that somehow no one knew that my friend came to the concert with me and skipped for the same reason, and she was up for prefect as well.

That's Sod's law for you

But I guess you had you heart set on that prefect position. I can see why you were panicking.

it's sod's law like murphy's law?

yeahhh, being prefect was kind of a big deal to me. it's a big deal in my school in general, but i was geek enough to believe it all instead of only wanting power and putting it on my college app. at least i waited to burst into tears of fear until after i left the office.

Oh dear... Well, as long as you got the position in the end, then its all water under the bridge I suppose. Must have been a bitch to deal with at the time though.

And yes, Sod's Law = Murphy's Law (as Prospekt might say)

*hugs back*

:nice:

Yes, they are definitely missing out....it's ashame how some people can be too ignorant to be open-minded about music...and would rather 'go with the crowd' on something stupid.

some dude in my class to embarras me by sticking X&Y on at a party...not that that's really embarrsing over X&Y...but its more when I'm called gay...I get really annoyed when people start finding fault with coldplay

Apart from spending the night sleeping on a bench outside Basingstoke Station, no real embarrassments

and I remember Chris making a joke about the film but never got it actually...

One of the characters in the movie says "You know how I know you're gay? You like Coldplay."

Oh, the (in)famous joke... :veryangry2:
