Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg joined Nick Frost for their first two films

Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg have confirmed plans for a third spoof comedy, following hit British movies Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.

The new project is part of a two-film deal writer and director Wright has agreed with the Working Title studio.

It is provisionally being called The World's End, and will be written by Wright and Pegg.

It will follow another Wright project, Baby Driver, an action and crime comedy set in the US.

Wright said: "Working Title have been fantastic to work with and hugely instrumental in bringing the work of myself, Simon, and [producer] Nira Park to the screen.

"We've had a lot of fun with them so far and it delights me to continue the partnership in the future with new material and bold directions."

Working Title co-chairman Eric Fellner called Wright "one of the most gifted writers and directors in the industry today".

Last year, actor and writer Pegg told the Guardian newspaper he was keen to complete the "blood and ice-cream trilogy", adding each film would "feature a Cornetto in varying flavours".

"Shaun of the Dead has strawberry, Hot Fuzz has the original Cornetto flavour, and there will be a mint-choc chip in the third film," he told the paper.

"We don't quite know how or why yet, but it will happen."

I just posted that in the Simon Pegg thread :P

Great minds think alike ;)

Ah damn :P Well the more Simon Pegg on the board the better.

I agree with the great minds comment though

any news on weather Nick frost will be in it?

I love it when he teams up with pegg.

they're so good together.

Well they said it was an 'ice cream trilogy' so I would think so considering it was Nick Frost's character that had the Cornetto in the previous two film :idea2:

:wideeyed:

My God, this is so exciting! :D Can't wait!

Who's up for a special coldplaying trip to go see this on the day of release? :D

(don't worry, I'll bring the pringles!)

:freak:

*explodes*

HOW DID I MISS THIS?! how did i not see this all day?!

AHH

edgar wright and simon pegg are my favorite screenwriters ever, i think, and edgar wright definitely makes the "best directors" list in my book, no question. and i'll defend that in any court, even though as a film student i'm only supposed to revere the godfather and citizen kane and casablanca etc. someday i'm going to write a really kick-ass paper for class on why these movies should be considered pieces of fine cinema rather than just popcorn cinema.

and i had a cornetto today out of the blue and i thought of these movies. though they're not called cornettos in the US.

and BIG YES to the special coldplaying trip to see this!! i'll even fly over to the UK especially for it :P
